As a first time dm and new player overall, these tips are SO very appreciated

I’m putting a comment here just to keep track of this short. Very useful information, and I have to look up some of these I haven’t heard of later. Thanks!

First time DM and I haven't played before, I'm running LMoP for a group of friends who are also first home players and my next campaign is gonna be a homebrew, can't wait to use these tools. Thank you for making this that much easier for me and others in my position, you're the true MVP! :)

Our current campaign is drawing to a close and I'm running the next one. Still needed some maps and stuff just to keep some backups ready. This really helped

Suggestions of my own: Azgaar's fantasy map generator.
Roll for fantasy + fantasy name generators.

Owlbear rodeo, if you want a virtual tabletop the. This is the first one I would suggest. It's got a really simple interface, is completely free and just overall simplifies the process of using a vttt.

Tabletop audio. It's a free resource of ambient and background sounds.

I'd argue that Wonderdraft/dungeondraft is great too

5e.tools. has basically every item, monster, spell, etc. That you can search for by category. It's great especially for spells or remembering what your magic items do if you don't wanna spend 200 bucks for all the books on dnd beyond.

Use hero forge to make a mini then screen shot it and use the screen shot for a online table top token

Think even if they cost a bit dungeondraft and wonderdraft should be on those lists. Creating battle maps and worlds maps never was easier. Incarnate is very complicated in comparison. Dungeondraft battle maps take about 30 min to create a fully developed map.

Rpgbot, for people who want to know what's actually good for builds.

Holy fuck, I use d100 all the time. Such a helpful sub. One time I pulled a carousing table off of there and my players kept rolling on it. All sorts of shit happened and it was goddamn amazing.

Inkarnate is good but i think Wonderdraft and Dungeondraft are much better for World/regional maps and dungeon/interior map, the only thing i believe inkarnate is better at is city maps (wonderdraft and dungeon draft are pretty painfull if you try to make a good looking city) . Plus inkarnate has all legal rights to your maps so you can’t use them if you plan yo monetize them unlike Wonderdraft that let you do your shit.

Ah and also inkarnate is online only so you may have trouble using it while traveling or stuff like that.

Honestly incarnate kinda sucks for me. I even got the pro subscription service but the tools just never clicked for me and all the maps look the same even after a year of using it. I have no idea how others use it.
