Me 58 years old. My son: "Mom want to play D and D with me and my friends?" Me: "Hell ya, how do you play?" Me now 60 years old: "Son, when are we getting together for the next session????" Never too old!

You guys should do a show on finding a game. How to get a group together.

For all of you that say "but I don't have and friends!"

So go to your local game shop and ask about dnd night. Most shops host a night that people can come and play dnd. Even with a group that caters to the drop in and new to dnd. This way you make friends that are friends with dnd.

I love how it says "most popular tabletop roleplaying game" instead of pretending its the only one. (Correcting typo).

4:51 to explain what my 25 minute rambling explanation actually means. I’m setting up a work game so it’s certainly a good intro

BOLD of you to assume I actually have that many friends, who can all meet up at the same place at the same time

_Edit: good news! Reunited with some old friends and now playing over discord from time to time_ ✌️

Some of my fondest memories are in a basement with friends I've known since kindergarten, having epic adventures. Hard to believe it was almost 30 years ago.

0:45 excuse me? D&D doesn’t involve *luck*? You’ve clearly never rolled a natural 1

Mm. The DM. I've been DM once, and that was pretty fun. But the worst feeling is when your DM has a specific storyline that they want *and force* you to follow. The way I did it, was I set up a goal that tied in with my players/characters wants. I had no FriCkIty fracking idea what I was doing, but that made it more fun as we went along :D Plus one of the campaigns I had the most fun in was thrown together on the spot, my DM was bulling the entire thing and it. Was. EPIC!

I want to DM another campaign with my first group, but I'm still working on the worldbuilding and NPCs.

So! My Advice for new DMs:

1) In The first session you have with your group, make your Characters together. And make sure that your group has filled out the personality stuff and check that they have a bacic backstory.

2) Maybe outline events that will be happening. Such as carnivals, festivals, wars, minor battles, conflicts, ect...

3) Don't be a limp noodle when it comes to corralling your players! They *will* be chaotic and ready to test your friendship. Set down ground rules. Ban social media and other distractions that are not related to the game. Trust me.

4) Give *in game* consequences for the killjoys. I've been a killjoy. Don't let us regin supreme.

5) DONT for the love of Pete, make a structured campaign unless your players are super obedient and take the most obvious route. It's a game about the players and the world. Not some story you want them to follow. Because it's not fun when the DM denies certain tasks that you want to do. And plus, the player always break the campaign.

Thank you for creating a concise video on the game, I'm genuinely intrigued by it and have always wanted to play.

Probably the most eloquent and elaborate, yet compact, explanation I've ever heard about D&D. Love it!

A lot of people say this is nerdy, which is objectively impossible, as it requires friends.
