Enjoy this Interval Timer where Maïté plays a Tibetan Singing Bowl at regular intervals to support your meditation practice.
In this video, a Tibetan Singing Bowl rings once every 1 minute.
The use of intervals in meditation (or any other mindful activity) can guide you towards:
- Establishing presence.
- Centering yourself.
- Returning focus and attention.
- Clearing the mind.
As soon as you hear the sound of the bowl, you are in the present moment as the sound only occurs in the present. If your mind was wandering and you hear the sound of the singing bowl then you can redirect and sustain your attention to the sound and to whatever you are experiencing in the present moment or to whatever the object of awareness for your practice is.
Listening to the sound of the bowl can support you in:
- Coming back to the here and now from being taken away into any sort of thinking.
- Centering yourself back into your body, breath, mind and heart as well as your practice (or other mindful activity of choice).
- Shifting the awareness back to the mindfulness meditation practice (or other mindful activity).
- Clearing the mind from trains of thoughts by simply letting go, listening to the bowl, returning to the practice .
