I tried to add some EQ and high pass filter in this video to try and make it sound better.

Part of the problem is that bass waves are "bigger" than higher frequencies so cutting off the top would actually help, or at least removing the acoustical foam. Remember that being in front of the box during recording also blocks sound pressure and contributes to the boxy effect. Experiment with the distance you are from the mic, and you may also find that that will help.

This was insanely helpful. I must say I also really appreciate how thorough you were at the end, it was more helpful than just cutting from "difference A" to "difference B" like a lot of vids do.

Humorously, whenever people ask me how to best do cheap ADR, I send them a link to this video. I find that creating the DIY box works better than just about anything and, with the use of headphones, can make recording ADR so much easier. Great job, and you probably have no idea how many people you've instructed in recording better audio.
