2014 PHB under Somatic: "the caster must have free use of at least one hand to perform these gestures."
2024 PHB under Somatic: "A spellcaster must use at least one of their hands to perform these movements."
The word "free" has disappeared.

Happiest ‘Hey everyone! Chris here!’ I’ve ever heard 🎉🎉🎉

Enjoy the Long Rest with your folks, chief, you’ve earned it 👍

The fact that there is a separate time stamp for shields is VERY interesting to me, wonder what they changed about them

Since earlier this year I've been at the absolute lowest of my entire life, so much so that I couldn't even enjoy the things I usually loved...
But I'm finally being able to overcome it, and being able to binge your videos I kept leaving for later has helped me so much to take my mind away from those dark places, I can't thank you enough!

I've said it before - ever since you created this channel you've been my favourite content creator, so I just really wanted to drive home how much I appreciate you and your work!

10:28 Man, can't believe it took this long for me to finally see a perfect explanation of the difference between Perception/Investigate and when each applies.

It was absolutely astounding seeing you respond to queries about various changes or new rules mid-premiere of this video! Truly out of this world dedication to the community and i am so proud to be a part of it ❤ you da best Mr. Temple!

36:34 "Losing 10 feet per level of exhaustion" Sounds like this was a minor error in reading it yeah? 5 feet per level of exhaustion, maxing out at -25ft before you die
41:00 RIP Counterspell battles! It sounds like this kills the ability to reaction-cast-a-spell on your own turn after casting a spell in case someone tries to counterspell your fireball. I look forward to checking out your new spell breakdown to see how specifics have shaken out I suppose, as much as I wish to grumble as a wizard enthusiast I'll concede it's probably better for the health of the game.

Hope you have a lovely visit with your family, thank you for the fastidious breakdowns!

Why, yes, I did tell youtube to notify me when this starts despite that being 6am for me. Worth it!

It's an absolute travesty that TM doesn't have 100k subscribers.

Initiative Dex tiebreakers wasn’t just some house rule we all came up with. It was a previous edition rule that a lot of people just didn’t realize wasn’t carried over. Of course, it spread from there to new players.

Chris, there are a lot of good D&D channels out there, but no one comes even close to you in terms of the precision and insight you have with the game's mechanics. I'm really grateful for you channel.... And today I'm becoming a paid subscriber.

Ya know what, Chris? You’ve got some pretty good takes on the design of D&D. I’ve been following all of your coverage of D&D 2024, and I’m looking forward to these videos. Honestly hadn’t thought to subscribe, and I’m gonna fix that now. Good luck on 100k.

I guess the "only one spell slot per turn" also ends the "I counterspell your counterspell to cast my spell" problem that sometimes used to come up.

Thanks for the heads up (timestamps in particular), great work, and patience (it's been really obvious how excited you are about revealing stuff in other videos).

Similar to other comments, I've also never used the "notify me" feature until this video. I'm wondering if you'll be adding more scheduled videos to give similar sneak peeks like this? You've already mentioned dedicated videos for spells, but will there for example be a video covering the NPC stat blocks? (I know Druid players in particular will want to know the beast options).

Again, thanks for the great content!

Hope you have a good trip and a great time with your parents, Chris. I'm glad you covered the rules and obviously showing all the wording changes on the screen was very helpful. Quality content. Cant wait to see the spells.

If I'm understanding this right, then the rule on one spell slot used per turn actually explains why Aberrant Mind had to be reworked. Unless they drop a rule correction, then they basically unlock doublecasting at level 6.
