I have a doubt about your ball example as in example of ball, when you had two balls, one in your hand and another on the ground. your were the on who did external work and drop the ball and that led to the work done, now think if a strong wind blow comes the ball on the ground will also move to the direction of the wind than the will be work in ball on the ground too. Am I right or wrong ?

There is no kinetic energy in a moving mass there is force Mv squared kinetic energy is the energy of consistent work from a consistent force regards Graham Flowers
