The fact that the "noob run" looks exactly how I'd do it makes me a little sad... but I guess it also gives me a lot of room to improve. I'll start practicing in Abyss and who knows, maybe I'll even get the 2 stars I'm missing from floor 12.

My only question would be how to know when you need to reevaluate your team choice instead of keep practicing your execution.

Yo that was me you were arguing with.

So first I'd just like to say I never give up before I know for sure I can't do something. Sometimes I will try for hours before I completely give up. I mess around with team comps an insane amount. Seeing which character rotation is better than others, which supports support my DPS the most, etc.

And second, I already think a lot about the best way to go about taking on enemies, which my first thought is always "how do I group them up?"

Lot of enemies are easy to manipulate to moving into each other like the samurai guys, and the big Fatui guys generally stick together I've noticed.

So it's not like I go in without strategy. I come up with my main strategies and change my characters based on whether or not I like how they work against certain enemies.

Lot of the strategies you showed off in this video I've been using for a long time (outside of the abyss since I hardly ever do it).

So my main problem, as I said before in our argument, is simply I can't do enough damage. Even if I put my all into killing a little guy, it takes a stupidly long time in the higher abyss floors.

I appreciate you making this video, I, personally will still have to disagree that my strategy is the problem, but that's just for me. Not saying that gear is everyone's problem, but a personal problem. And yes, my full team still does less damage than your Keqing lmao.

Really sorry about the dummy long comment btw lol

Well i totally agree to that, skills with proper rotation is really important i just notice it today while playing abyss and studying boss mechanics is also important

Having Kazuha is a blessing if you do abyss everytime, sadly no Kazuha and Klee yet

Thanks for sharing what went during the process of conquering abyss, it’s very insightful. I appreciate more content like dis. It reminds me of a book titled “Solving Math Olympics Problem with Thought Process” lol I used to wonder why with the thought process, but later discovered it’s valuable for assessing what went wrong w urself that hindered u from achieving the same heights as other successful participants/players.

I managed to 36 star spiral abyss on mobile this abyss cycle. Thank the RNG Gods for an extra 50 primogems. Totally not worth the pain and suffering I had to go through, especially with that last chamber.

tbh i thought this is common sense since we do need to do our own analysis since we don't have the same roster/equipment/stats etc... seeing that you pointing this problem, it might not be a common sense at all.. i saw people tends to rush and clear it just by having to watch the enemy on the floor and decide to give up just because they don't have good artifacts(especially that one friend of mine)... thank you for pointing out this problem lily

If for clearing well you got around 24 star minimum on every chamber and well a low investment unit still can clear abyss without full star. With a lil bit of resource management and mechanical skill you can clear it. But for full star, it takes really around 4 months worth of resin and still increasing since mihoyo just crank up the HP of the enemies.my first clear is back on v1.0 on the cryo abyss with 1/9 on floor 12 at ar46. then my first full star is on v1.2 (ar52) when the increase geo element on floor 12

P.S and it takes around a year you can clear abyss with eyes closed

Good advice. After getting 36* myself in January 2021, I started coaching friends on Discord on how to 36*. Common lessons I observed from almost a year of Genshin coaching:
-Artifacts do matter in the sense that if your gear is too bad, 36* is straight up impossible
-HOWEVER most people think their artifacts are worse than they really are: they actually can get 36* if they change teams and execute better
-After 2-3 months of artifact farming, very few players will still be in that impossible zone (assuming talents/weapons done)
-Most common execution mistakes: missing snapshots, funneling wrong character, not grouping, wasting too much stamina
-Also people are very attached to set bonuses: sometimes running that "copium" Lavawalker circlet will improve your damage despite sacrificing your set bonus, simply due to substats
-Most common resin mistake: not using the artifact strongbox to accelerate farming

I think besides "combo, " team comps matters too. I use Hu Tao's best team (Hu Tao, Zhongli, Albedo, Xingqiu) and Sunfire (Kazuha Jean Xiangling Bennett) which are honestly my safest and most comfortable team to clear floor 12. Most of them are geared with 4* weapons and decent artifacts (the only 5* is Aquila on Bennett and Spine on Zhongli). Thankfully they work really really well together so the current cycle only took me one run to finish it with 9*.

While a friend of mine who slightly whales (most 5* DPS characters with signature weapon and cracked artifacts bcs he likes to fully refresh resin) said that he cleared the current cycle around 2 hours. He always likes to play with 2 DPS in one team like bringing Diluc with Xiao or Hu Tao with Eula which honestly makes him finish abyss much longer than I did.

I also have a side account that has Ganyu Childe Ayaka and Hu Tao but I find it hard to finish floor 12. Besides the obvious that I'm too lazy to grind artifacts (there lol), I also don't have proper teammates for my DPS. For example Melt Ganyu would want Kazuha Zhongli Bennett and Freeze would want Mona Venti but I don't have them so it's harder to play Ganyu without those certain characters. I just got Hu Tao so I'm not sure what to do with her, though Childe and Ayaka is fine but their teams are not that optimal.

So if I had to sum up what I think matters most in abyss is first having a decent build on your main and sub dps (no need for cracked builds, just talents and weapons and artifacts levelled up), then have a proper teams that synergizes with each other, and then execution on the stage (combo).

Your vids are honestly inspiring for my own self improvement, I’ve definitely still got a ways to go in terms of execution but being able to clear 12-3 with 8:05 on the clock in my most recent recorded clear vid was a huge achievement for me considering how many close shaves I’ve had with nearly running out of time. Keep doing the great work you do for the Genshin community! ☺️

I agree with your vid, I always do each version an abyss guide for my friends with just 4 star units and weapons just to be f2p friendly, take a time to do it but i always manage to do 36 stars with those limitations, so when the second reset of the current abyss, I have improved a lot, which causes that when I play with my strongest teams, I have a lot of time to recharge energy for the next chamber and even doing that there are 30 seconds left

Whoa, I just earned my first 36 stars abyss run. I've been stuck with 33 stars for so long, only after watching your video I realise I've been wasting so much time on my rotation waiting for cooldown and energy.

Artifact will affect you performance on Abyss but bottom line you will need to learn the enemy's mechanic and also Team rotation

Excluding broken teams like Morgana, player skill plays a pivotal role, as you summarized, understanding the game environment or using skills of characters at the right time improves the time to complete the abyss

this video is super important for alot of people to position better and also play more efficiently. but then maybe help teach players that since the kazuha with his pin point cc helps groups enemies in a way that's really efficient that some players don't have access to. the clear time doesn't matter in this case just the improvement of people runs matter. if you used a weak team and showed a bad run and then ran the same team with efficient positioning and a huge improvement on time it would be helpful for alot of players. I guess when people see bennett zhong li shred and kazuha cc they are going to assume they don't have the characters for it.

Very nice tips! Of course, I can't be bothered myself to reffine my strats, I'll just grab whatever stars I can on my way to 12-3 with a team that I find fun and call it a day, because I just don't enjoy restarting again and again (read : I'm lazy), but for those who want to push their limits, that's super useful!
