God Of War Ragnarök is set in the world of Norse mythology but expands upon the previous game's narrative, with an even greater focus on exploration and open-world gameplay. While God of War (2018) allowed the player to access six of the nine realms of Norse mythology, Ragnarök's expanded focus sees the player exploring each of the nine realms, including the new additions of Svartalfheim, the industrial abode of the Dwarves; Vanaheim, the lush home of the Vanir gods; and Asgard, the golden land of the Æsir gods. Midgard, the primary realm of the 2018 installment, is heavily featured but is now a frigid wasteland, dramatically changed by Fimbulwinter, a three-year long winter that began upon the conclusion of the previous game. The Lake of the Nine, previously navigable by means of a boat in the previous game, is now frozen over. Svartalfheim is explorable to the same degree as Midgard was in the previous game. Alfheim, Helheim, and Niflheim all return, with an expanded focus and character exploration.

So Faye was just like Kratos before they met. She allowed her anger to consume her and sought revenge against the Aesir by trying to eliminate Thor but in the process she involved innocents in her quest for vengeance and saw what her rage made her do.

That explains why she would always vanish whenever Odin or Thor were on her trail.

Bro the fact that Faye fought Thor with her Leviathan Axe and confronted Kratos shows how much of a warrior she was.

I like the DLC Idea, I'd love to see Faye and living out her story before she met Kratos and fights Thor. Gives meaning to when Thor said "It felt familiar", when he fought Kratos

I hope we get an explanation on how Kratos got to Midgard. I saw the clip that Faye mentions they fought when they met. Sounds like they were very similar.
Makes sense he fell in love with her, she was strong like him. And man, he loved her immensely. Maybe even more than his first wife. With Faye he seems more mournful, but maybe it was because there was no one to blame like before. She died naturally.
“We must be better.” She wanted to be better too, she spoke of both of them. She even changed the course of history. Changed Ragnorok itself and gave Kratos a future fate worth pursuing. Her foresight was enough to defy fate itself. Like Kratos did through sheer force of will.

So that's why Thor says "This feels familiar" the first time he was fighting Kratos.

Edit: So Thor only says "Feels familiar" is because he was drunk while fighting Faye.

An enraged Faye was strong enough to stalemate a Drunk Thor.

This entire story is tied to the Myths.

In the Myths Thor and Loki meet Giants who challenges them. First challenge was to drink from a Horn which Thor failed. Second challenge was to lift up a Cat which was actually a Giant. Thor failed that as well.
Third challenge was to wrestle an old woman who was also a Giant in disguise, which Thor failed.

Based on the Myth what happened in the story is likely a Squad led by Faye came to Vanehiem to take down Thor. They got Thor drunk on Infinite Mead and Faye fought him.

Thor stalemated the Battle and managed to escape.
