Ishan Sharma: I SPENT ₹12,000 on Dinner and IT WAS... 😱|

I recently had dinner at this fine dining restaurant in Delhi and got served a crazy 9-course meal! Absolutely loved the food.

But notice the small portion sizing for each meal. This was the veg-tasting menu I tried.

This doesn't make sense right?

You'd expect quantity to be more if you're paying so much right?

Well, here are 3 reasons why restaurants do it:

1. It’s not about eating: people come here to experience a variety of flavors instead of just filling up the stomach

2. You don’t get bored: according to taste psychology, your taste buds get bored after 4-5 bites, this way every bite is special and memorable.

3. Negative space: brands use empty space a lot to communicate a sense of elegance, exclusivity, and scarcity, leading to a higher perceived value.

I guess less is more.

Everyone in the comments salty af cause they are jealous they didn't get to experience this. It's more about the art of fine dining, that's what Michelin-star food is for

I haven’t tried Indian accent but in my experience I can say fine dining is not for everyone

It’s expensive ? Yes is it bad ? Nope
There’s people who will appreciate how much work and prep it need to prepare those dishes and different combinations of flavour and ingredients you might not find readily available or not feasible to make at home

Small portions ? Yes but you aren’t having just 1 or two dishes but rather a long tasting menu at the end of the course you’ll get stuffed (in my personal experience)

Consider fine dining as hobby it’s not for everyone but don’t shame others who enjoy it

Plus ambience

12K is like 12 rupees for some people. If u see from that perspective, its neither wasteful nor expensive.

In India 12K is the monthly salary of most of the common people. Its their monthly expenditure. This is the reality.

Why are you all hating him for spending 12k on a meal and giving lecture on poor and hungry people and all. He worked hard to earn a good amount of money and he can spend however he wants. I'm sure if you all earn like 2L per month you'll also go to such restaurant atleast once or take your parents there.
