@Greg Salazar What you describe is not an upgrade to that computer, it is building a new computer. Someone who uses a computer of that vintage generally does so because the performance has been adequate and/or they can't afford a new computer. My sister's computer is of similar vintage, it came with an I3-3220, 4GB ddr3-1600 ram, 300-watt power supply, and a 500GB HHD. She has been happy with it until she started taking courses towards a nursing degree (She works as a CNA) and some of her courses use software with higher system requirements. I put in an I7-2600, 4GB more ddr3-1600 ram, so now it's dual-channel, an SSD, an HD 7770 2GB, and a new Corsair CSX 430. I already owned all the components I put into this and they cost me $110.00, they would have cost twice as much but that's the advantage of squirreling away things that might be useful someday. So now she's happy, her course software works well on this system, and it was cheap.

PSU then SSD. Depending on budget, pick up a 4th series i7 and a z97 combo and keep the ddr3 and grab another 8 gb stick. Then grab a GPU ‐ gtx 1070 / 4790 combo would be a good combo.

If you are going to install a AIO water cooler. The radiators have air at the top. In this case flip the radiator so the tubes are at the bottom getting all water. If posable mount the radiator at the top of the case. It will make it much easier on the pump.
