The sad part is knowing that you had to make the decision because of a lack of willingness of your family to just volunteer just once in a while for a little break instead you hear stuff like (oh she’s so lucky to have someone like you to see after her )

We had to make the decision to move my Aunt to a Care home. I tried and assumed I could care for her in my home, I was so overwhelmed and exhausted after just one week and couldn’t handle it on own while also living my own life. I had family members judge me but none of them helped me or her and in the end I had to move her. And to be honest I see more of her now than I did when she was pre-dementia. She is happy and has friends and activities. She came to our home to celebrate Christmas and it had noticeably progressed and she now stutters. On a happy note we played her some music and her face lit up she clapped along to the music and actually sang no stutter. She was my mothers best friend and helped care for my mother til she passed and I will do the same for her🙏💯

...but how do you know if you're making the right decision?

Look, I had to make the tough decision for my mom with her kidney failure. My dad has dimensia and is in stage 4 kidney failure. All I can say is that you will know when the hard decision needs to be made. Care for them as best you can for as long as you can...just know that when the time comes...it will hurt more than you have ever hurt, just remember...would they want you to feel the pain? Be their angel. Take comfort in knowing it is always in God's hands including your pain as a caregiver.

Make sure to visit them daily if possible at the care home so that staff knows you're keeping an eye on them because "accidents happen'.

The hardest part is that I am not physically strong enough to lift her and move her. Like out to the car. And the other is that she doesn't
