Thank you! My husband and I have recently subscribed to your channel. I am a 56 urosurgeon that has been diagnosed with FTD. My husband is very distraught and is utilizing your tips already. Thank you for all that you do.

Thank you. I feel regret everyday putting my Mom in a nursing home last year. I cared for my Mom for 12 years while working full time. It was the hardest time of my life. If it wasn’t for God’s Grace, I never would have made it that far. My Mom also had MS since she was in her 20s. When my Mom got Covid in December 2021 she really couldn’t walk anymore and that’s when I had to relinquish her care to someone else. Everyday I think maybe I could have handled the situation better. I play it over and over in my mind. I feel like I let her down. I never wanted it to end this way.

Sometimes our choices are made for us! Even though they aren’t the choices that we are feeling comfortable with

"solve the problem not the emotion.". I think you said this. It helps me.

Thanks again I to have guilt feelings for putting my loved one into care and for the same reason but god forbid if she got struck by a car or something at least she is safe now and the staff are absolutely fantastic with her she still wants to come home but doesn’t know where that is most of the time it’s her child hood home

Somehow you show up for me every time I need to hear you. After 8 years of caring at home we are putting my father in law in a nursing facility. I am torn into pieces with guilt and regret. I appreciate that you show up.

Excellent point. I'm concerned that the care facility has a bullet hole in the window of the dining area. I want the best for my parent, not a drive by shooting.

I'm moving Mom from Arizona to Portland Oregon. She just wants to be around family. She's about to go on her first plane flight. We get home late and her new hospice peeps want to see her that night. The memory center we planned on placing her in had a outbreak of covid on April 17 the and a second one on the 19th She is to be here may 2 might have to take her to a hotel a couple days before she can move in. Till the CEO of center says it is okay to move her in. So stressed 😨

Thank you so much for this. I have regret over something completely out of my control- a global pandemic. My mom declined so much in that time we kept her home and I so wish she could have gone to senior centers and had stimulation with other adults her age…

You must never regret a decision that was based on well informed facts as they presented themselves at the time of the decision. You will otherwise drive yourself mad.

With a lot of physical and emotional abuse going on in aged care facilities, especially to people with dementia, because who’s going to know, & who’s going to believe the patient even if they’re telling the truth. I feel it’s not that clear cut nor even safer to have them there.

What are the best ways to secure your home so parents with Dementia can’t wander in the streets?

What do you say to the dementia patient when they keep asking to see and find her spouse after he's passed away 8 yrs ago. 63 yrs married but she can't remember him passing or funeral. If I say he's with Jesus she gets so upset like it just happened but the next hr or next day she starts being sad and wants to find him. It's so sad😢

No...she knows her Mom was a walking corpse waiting to die and paying for care. Fun.
