Why do you ride motorcycles?

Most doctors will tell you that motorcycle riding is dangerous and should be avoided. My perspective is a little different.

Sure, riding motorcycles is more dangerous than riding a car, but there are things that you can do to decrease your risks. It starts with proper training and proper safety gear. Continued learning and brushing up on safety topics is also important to you stay at the top of your game.

Many people say that riding motorcycles improves their mood and mental health. There has been research to support these claims. Every time I come back from a ride, I feel better than when I left.

Beyond that, there are endless accessories and gear to buy that truly makes this a lifelong hobby.

Send this Short to someone you know that should buy a motorcycle and start riding!

I’m a physician as well and have always wanted to ride despite the traumas I’ve seen. You make a compelling argument on risk mitigation, excellent video!

I’ve been telling everyone who thinks bikes are dangerous exactly the same thing. As long as you focus, wear the right gear, respect the power of your bike and be complacent, you have great chances of enjoying every ride and coming back home safely.

Thank you for this, you're riding attitude almost mirrors mine, no music and no phone. I spend the whole of my time concentrating on who and what's around me. After returning home once during heavy rain my wife said she couldn't understand how I could like riding in the rain. I simply said that I don't think I've ever returned home after a ride in any weather without a smile on my face. Oh and yes when things aren't going so well or I'm feeling a bit down I just get one of the bikes out and go for a ride. Ride safe and happy Sir. (Road riding since '79)🏍️😁

My wife was a dispatcher for the state police and is now a driver's license examiner for the same agency. She has heard so many horror stories of motorcycle wrecks from the troopers that she is always scared when I ride, and I always wear all the gear and don't often ride in high traffic areas.

Despite all of the crash videos I've seen, I'm still going for my license with the MSF. Next weekend actually. Probably gonna be cold but eh. I'll power through it.🥶😆

Whats your take on powerlifters that ride and have well developed musculature that essentially acts as a second armour cushioning vital organs and bones upon impact?
I imagine they can survive and heal alot faster alot more than average person.

I dunno. I think riding cars is pretty dangerous, too. Unless there's roof racks. If there are roof racks, it's probably not too bad.
