This Is Why I Like Winter Camping, The Forests are Empty.

I'm back! I want to thank you for the kind words, thoughts, and prayers this past week. I'm at about 70%, so feeling much better! I hope to see the tooth specialist this week. My regular dentist is not moving forward. I guess the x-rays are showing her something she doesn't feel comfortable working on. I've been told I have funky roots canals in the past.

This week I'm taking you to Cass County and exploring a section of tax forfeited land. This parcel is 27 thousand acres owned by Cass County and open for public use. Although that seems like a big chunk of land, it's a drop in the bucket compared to how many acres of public land are being held by the 87 counties in Minnesota. I'm not sure if every county in Minnesota treats the tax forfeited lands this way. You may want to contact the local Land and Service Department before setting up camp in your county. But I do know that Crow Wing, Cass, Aitkin, and Itasca Counties all allow the public to use them the exact same way as the State Forests. These chunks of land are not easily recognizable. Often times there are no signs like you would find in National and State Forests. One big thing to remember is that counties will usually have land auctions a few times a year. You have to make sure the land you are setting up on hasn't been recently sold!

You can find updated plate books at your local Government Center. You can also find parcel information online for free. A website I have used in the past to find owner information was called Beacon. However, for the last 5 years I have been subscribed to OnX Hunt. It costs $30 for a 1-year subscription and gives me information for 1 state. I'm not sponsored by them. I just really like their service.

This weekend the food was good, the weather was great, and the forest was quiet. I could not have asked for a better way to spend my weekend. I was looking at the long-term weather forecasts. It looks like we will still have some cold winter weather for a short while, but I'm not sure if I'll be camping in the snow any time soon. I'm ok with that. I'm looking forward to the lakes opening up and green grass under my feet.

A tooth almost killed me, spent 15 days in the Hospital with two surgeries, Two ICU's, Two intubations and extubations, don't mess with tooth situations address it as soon as possible. Take care of you teeth... Thumbs Up Dude!...

In my humble opinion, there is nothing like an RV, be it truck camper, travel trailer, motorhome, or whatever its type. I love everything about camping in an RV and being able to stay more closely connected to nature when out there.
