Why I Love Great Britain

In early December 2021 asked by a major British newspaper to write some words reflecting on my recent two-week visit to the UK. I had been invited, then disinvited, to Cambridge University in 2019, when I had planned and made arrangements to participate in a seminar on the Book of Exodus, to help me prepare a series of public lectures on that story. I was invited back to Cambridge this year, and visited, with my wife, in late November and early December, and I wrote about the experience for The Telegraph, a major UK newspaper. That link is here:

I hope you find the video engaging and useful.

Jordan Peterson is so great he's been invited to speak in another dimension

I'm too British to accept this much praise in such a short amount of time.

I believe in everything he said. As a Norwegian, I have always admired the UK. It invented almost everything and liberated us from tyranny. I also love British culture

You never hear this in Britain. You only hear a negative interpretation of British history - colonisers and tyrants. It's so heartwarming to hear these words.

American here. I owe so much of my education to Britain: Shakespeare, Hume, Samuel Johnson, Bertrand Russell, Adam Smith, John Locke, Milton, Jane Austen, George Eliot, George Orwell, Christopher Hitchens, Tolkien, Churchill, Dickens, etc. etc. ad nauseam. Not to mention, the great Karl Pilkington. So thank you, Britain! And God bless the Queen 🍻

God I owe this man so much that I can’t pay back, I was homeless and hopeless a year ago my mother had just passed and I was kicked out the family home. I got 12 rules for life as a gift from a friend and since then I have got myself a flat, job prospects are lining up and in my spare time I have started a free college course in computer programming and game development and am doing alright. Thank you Dr Peterson

As a proud Englishman my chest swelled up until it almost burst. It was a very pleasant change to hear a highly intelligent person praise the UK for what it has given to the world. We’re not perfect of course, but it’s safe to say that in science, literature, music (Rock and Pop, I’ll concede Classical to the Europeans), engineering, stopping The Nazis (with due acknowledgment to many other allies - thank you) and probably stuff I’ve forgotten, we punch above our weight.

God save the UK. I am an Iranian international student and I testify it is the most brilliant country in the world.

If anyone deserves a Canadian Order of Merit or Knighthood it's you, Jordan! Your service to those within the commonwealth and across the globe is immense. God bless you and have a very Merry Christmas.

As a Brit, I'm going to write an article called "Why Great Britain loves Jordan Peterson". Your intelect and candour will always be welcome here, sir.

As an Englishman, I can NEVER understand anyone that has anything but pride in being British & what that means. A tiny island, with a big attitude & a bigger heart. ❤ Rule Brittannia. 🇬🇧🔴🤚

Jordan. As a British Citizen and Subject I have just listened to this in the wake of the terrific loss of our Monarch. Thank you. This was profoundly restorative.

As someone who would be considered a “thug” or a “wasted youth” by alot of people here in the UK, which in a lot of regards I am, so I understand it. I just want to say thank you Jordan, I’ve never been academically smart, as in school my mind would wander and I would just think about other things and never concentrate. Like a lot of kids, this led me to think I wasn’t smart, so I kind of just gave up on school, and got involved with the wrong crowd. However, when I came across you, you made me realise that being a deep thinker is the biggest superpower you can have in this world. While I still slightly admire certain people/things from the ‘street life’, I also now look up to people such as yourself, and realised how badass a lot of the worlds top thinkers are. Thank you again, you’re a role model to a lot of people, and from all different walks of life. You definitely changed the way I think about the world.

As an American, Britain is our father in many ways. We've inherited his works: philosophical, societal, even thier martial prowess. While we often bicker it is clear to me at least that they are our closest friend, most important ally, and most influential advisor. While both of our histories are stained with sins, one cannot find two cultures that have created as much good for the world.

Great Britain is our Motherland. She has achieved so much. She is the envy of the world. We are the Anglosphere 😎👍

I am a lady in the UK who has depression anxiety disorder and PTSD. I have often felt alone in the world and have always loved great thinkers and Jordan Peterson is certainly my favourite to date. I love how he shows emotion and how he defends free speech, ( which I feel passionately about) and Jordan has extended himself more than most, ( despite ridicule from the people who are asleep). It can painful to be so awake but like him, I will not succumb to the pressures of the masses, to conform to notions that make no logical sense. Thanks Jordan, for keeping me as sane as possible. I have so much respect for who you are and what you have done for so many. You are an real treasure. ❤

The history of the British Isles is one of the greatest stories ever told...and though I be an American, I consider it, in no small way, to be my own story. So many of my ancestors were a part of the story that I cant help but feel that the story is a part of me.

I'm an American Anglophile, and proud to admit it.

My grandfather put everything he owned in a wheelbarrow 129 yrs ago and made his way to the UK from Japan. Such a short time compared to the age of these Isles, but I feel as if my very soul is part of this'green and pleasant land'...I love it passionately, and though in my dotage, like my male relatives, I would fight to the death to defend her.

I love my country. It's coming up to half past midnight as I write this. I've just got back from the pub where I had a conversation with a guy whose politics I profoundly disagreed with. I bought him a beer and listened to what he had to say. He bought me one back. If it came to it, and in all sobriety, I'd fight for that man's right to express his wrongheaded and silly views because if nothing else that's what my country is about. We bequeathed that to the world and for all our faults, which are numerous, we still live it. Isn't it glorious? Isn't it fucking glorious?

Isn't that worth fighting for? Isn't that worth dying for? I wish I could articulate that pride as well as Mr Peterson.
