I was a child of divorce after my Dad had an affair and lied about it over & over again. He ended up marrying that woman after my mother had to kick him out. It was very hurtful to me as a girl to see my father lie, cheat, and abandon us. I had great difficulty trusting men as a result. There is no justification for having an extra-marital affair, especially when children will be affected. Think of the children and what you are putting them through.

Having survived my husband's emotional affair, (and yes, it took a long time to rebuild our marriage) let me say that just because you really "get" one another does not give you blanket permission to hurt and betray your family.

I read comments from his first wife. She said that Amy and Vince use to like to go golfing together and other activities that she wasn’t really interested in. So she was fine with letting them meet and go out as friends. But her friends warned her not to do this because a romantic relationship could develop. But she felt it was ok because she believed Amy and Vince were just good pals. When it became apparent that he had fallen in love with Amy and wanted a divorce, his wife was so hurt and said she should have listened to her friends.

If you’re not happy in your marriage and no longer want or are no longer able to work on it then be honest and separate, but don’t start an affair while your still together that destroys trust and faith and puts your kids in a terribly awkward situation. Some people don’t recover. Including the kids.

When I was getting to know my boyfriend, I made it clear to him that I’m not going to play wife without being a wife. I’m interested in dating but my ultimate goal is to marry and have children. That means that my bedroom door is locked until we’re legally married.

My boyfriend is accepting and respectful of that.

If you’re dating someone and you want to get married, don’t be afraid to tell them “no” when they want you to be a spouse in all but the legal and spiritual aspects. If they’re worth it, they will respect that. If not? Well, best to not get too attached.

💍 Wow - Amy you speak like the divorces just “happened” . These were decisions made by you two. Nobody did this to you. You did this to others. You’ve experienced grace and forgiveness? You tore apart two good families. I don’t see any repentance from you for it. No wonder you’re sweating.

What really struck me at the time was that your music was no longer powerful. That’s how I really knew something was wrong. But God is good. You can’t undo what you did, but you can repent and come clean.

You’re not the only one who’s made a mistake. We all need him. 🙏🏽
