Join us aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Midway with @MTV News for the #TopGun Maverick global premiere! We're live from the red carpet speaking with the cast of TOP GUN: MAVERICK including Tom Cruise, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Miles Teller, and MORE!

After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose.” Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it.

I was 16 when Top Gun was released... For me there were two movies that shaped me... Top Gun and Ferris Bueller's Day off. Both those movies targeted and catered to a very specific audience, the high school kids of that time... and I was one of them. After seeing Top Gun, I rushed out to the hobby store and built Monograms F-14, Testors Top Gun F-14 and Testors USS Nimitz, in College I became an Instructor pilot and work in the aviation industry today and that movie inspired me. Oh, and I still have those models today, dusty and old, I still kept them all these years! Can't wait to see "Maverick"

The best musical score/soundtrack of all time. That intro takes me back to 1986 when I was 7yrs.old. Nostalgia!

The Movie changed millions of lives as it did change mine. I was 11 and joined the Military High School to roll over to Airforce Academy after watching it. Also, perfect release time as the whole world is in need of pilots more than ever seen before.

36 years we've waited, didn't know if Tom cruise would ever come back after top gun 1986. NOW this moment is what it's all about, the greatest return of ALL TIME, MAVERICK IS BACK!!!!. FINALLY!!!. I've waited 36 years for this. Dad was here when top gun was released. He's gone now. But he'd be prouder than punch to see this one!!!. LONG LIVE MAVERICK!!!!.

He lands, he walks down to the red carpet from the helicopter- the 1984 Top Gun Anthem playing in the background - the nostalgia, the emotions, the urge to say, "l feel the need, the need for speed."
Myth. Legend. TCVerse

I was already 2 years into the Navy when TopGun came out....watched it ironically in San Diego where I was stationed at the time. Although I did a little bit of cringing at some of the "realism" of the film I still enjoyed it along with the theater goers....now I'm retired after 20 years in service and watching this new one will bring a lot of memories both of the original movie and for my active duty years in the Navy....hooyah go NAVY!

Top gun is not just a movie. It was something i was emotionally attached to. I remember trying to get myself into Maverick personality and always dreamt of becoming a pilot since i was 18. Its till today that i play danger zone before stepping out for a run. This movie honestly has shaped me and my personality that im today. To me this wasn't just a movie. From re-watching every scene to rehearse the dialogue by heart. I can't express how much happy i am right now writing this right now. Its never been enough to me about this movie. I m so grateful for tom cruise to have brought back my best childhood memories back.

As a former naval aviator I loved the autrhenticity of this film. The lengthy detailed pre-flight briefings for each mission ; the choreographed interaction among, yellow, green red and blue-shirted flight deck personnel, from fueling, arming, directing and moving aircraft into position, bringing order out of potential chaos, and then watching the jet blast deflectors being raised, as a green-shirted catapult technician rolled down under the tail of the aircraft to be launched in order to attach a hold- back pin designed to shear when, during launch, the aircraft reaches the end of the catapult rail. As I watch this movie, It is perfectly clear that the writers, director and actors ware a wonderful gathering of intelligent, talented individuals who have created a tribute to navy aviation.

I am 68 and was on the crew that built the very first prototype F18s in Hawthorne CA in 1978. The best of the best were on that crew back in those great days. We all thought the aircraft would last 10 to 20 years, and now it's been over 4 decades. Turned out to be the greatest aircraft of it's kind to still do what it does very well. I haven't seen any of those guys in quite a while, but am sure they too are retired and proud of all the great work they did. There were lots of long days with overtime on that project. Lots of dedicated good people made that happen.

Tom Cruise is young for almost 60 as always but holy Jerry Bruckeimer will be 79 this year, even more insane.
