As a child of divorce this movie broke me! It’s so raw and real! I was laughing one moment and crying the next. I saw this back in October at a Film Festival. I was so moved by it and was constantly thinking about it. I just rewatched it and yeah it’s the best movie of the year for me.

Great review and summation of the movie. I liked Adam Driver before but now I'm a fan, what an incredible performance! Scarlett Johansson was fantastic too but I was already a huge Scarlett fan. The child actor in this was very good as well, which is definitely not always a given.

Great review man! The ending was a lot more conclusive than I thought it'd be, actually.

Wow, 10 out of 10. Your reviews are always very informative and well thought out. Ingmar Bergman's Scenes From A Marriage is my favorite movie about marriage and separation. I prefer the uncut version of Bergman's film btw. That movie is definitely a 10 out of 10 for me. I will probably watch Marriage Story this coming weekend.

i'm a child of divorce and of a messy household. this movie almost triggered me, but it was so beautiful. it showcased the flawed nature of humans. not every story ends happily.

Although it had a bittersweet ending, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I loved seeing both perspectives and how Adam and Scarlett portray the characters’ struggles and emotions 😭

Blue Valentine is on Netflix right now. If Marriage Story is upper class artists, Blue Valentine is working class.

It was quite a well acted movie and I admire it’s handling of it’s themes. While it did took me a while to get into it but when it did get going, I was very impressed! 👍🏼

Absolutely brilliant movie with some of the best acting you will EVER see.
There are moments in this film that feel so real and raw that it sometimes doesn't even seem like a movie.

I just finished watching it and on the one hand I just felt so bad for Adam Drivers character cause he was trying to be apart of his sons life and trying soooo hard to be a good father. I legitimately got emotional at times. However, with that said, he was always kinda wanting to do things his own way and his wife did have a point about being lost in his own way. Parents argue a lot and the sad truth is, it can get to this point as demonstrated in this movie and the child is the one who gets the most affected.

There was one film that I saw in an acting class that dealt with broken relationships. That movie was August Osage County. It literally broke me mentally with the performances and the constant arguments.

Just saw it last night and I thought it was good. Nothing great or flawless in my opinion. I really did appreciate the realism of the movie. How it showed all the legal things the couples had to do and what they went through. The scene stealer was the argument between the two leads in his apartment. That was truly incredible. What I didn't care for was the acting by some of the support casts aside Laura Dern/Ray Liotta. Scarlett Johansson's sister had some terrible acting. So was the lady who came to Adam Driver's house to see how him and his son lived. I really was confused it they were just supposed to be acting that bad or was it for a bad comic relief thing? Wasn't a fan of some of the singing. Like the scene towards the end when Adam Driver randomly sings at that restaurant. So is this a musical now or what? lol That kind of reminded me of La La Land or something (BTW I loved La La Land). And why did the babysitter tell them they were both attractive?? That was so odd lol. Also, I didn't like how it was from a point of a view of sort of rich people. It would be a little more realistic from a middle class point of view in my opinion. Because a divorce is bad on a child no matter what, but it's easier when a child has some great support around him. I know this from personal experience, and had the opposite. But overall, good movie. I would rate it a solid B grade.
