This is every driver’s nightmare . One minute of silence from all drivers please! Sad.

Wheels don't just fly off vehicles- that is the result of grossly ignoring major mechanical problems over a period of time. Should be a manslaughter charge when they catch the cheap bastard that 'didn't notice' a major vibration and wobble to their vehicle.

Mandate proof of wheel torquing by licenced professional since it happens every spring and fall, each tire changing season people are losing life to a senseless neglegance, very sad and preventable.

lolll it doesnt take a rocket scientists to figure out what type of vehicle the wheel came from. if you have the evidence just read it off from the tire.

Might be time to introduce annual UK style MOT tests to make sure all vehicles on the road are road worthy. We had a similar incident in Ottawa a few years ago where a tyre came off of a trailer killing a man.

That's why you need to torque your wheels to its proper specs and re-torque periodically.

This has happened to me before I was in Saskatoon & pickup truck ahead of me had his wheel fly off fortunately, the roads were empty, and I could take a Sharp turn.
That was scary AF.

I dodged a wheel once, wasnt pretty.
the hubcap went one way, and hit the car beside me and the wheel went between us
the glass from the car that lost it when he hit the middle cement divider was like rain.

scary stuff, years ago I lost a wheel off a semi trailer, I had just got it replaced, It needed a retorque within 100km's, I hadn't gone 100km, luckily it was in North Dakota and not a lot of traffic. I remember the sick feeling when I saw it come off the trailer and go towards the other side of the road then swerve back into the left ditch and go about 50m though the ditch and hit a fence. It happens and the places that replace the wheel always give you a retorque within....covers their own ass in case this happens, its all on the driver.
