Newly released video shows the teenager emerging from the airplane as CNN's Dan Simon reports.

Never do this. That kid got extremely lucky. The more likely scenario is that you get crushed by the wheels, or you lose consciousness and fall out when the plane lowers the landing gear.

As crazy as this story is . I would risk it all just to go see my mom also. He went to go see his mom. He wanted to go see his mom. Without any money, with no food . This kid did something crazy but courageous.

UPDATE:
His mother is alive in an Ethiopian town shelter when she escaped a war in her town. This kid was brought back from Hawaii to California by his father. The kid while hiding in the plane lost his hearing but he regained it days later. But, incredibly no one in any international media has followed up on whether the kid reunited with his mother or not. Everyone just dropped the story. And no one raised money so that they would reunite at least for a few days. The kid is now a 28 year old man. But, no further information is given anywhere.

Young boy wants to see his Mom, and is willing to risk it all. Somalia is a tough place. Mom did everything she could do to send him where she felt he would be safe and have better opportunities.
What a harsh, unfair world we've created.
I really hope this story has a happy ending for the Mom and child.

i'm so glad he survived. it's sad how far away he is from is mother... but well, life is pretty hard isn't it? as i said, i'm glad he survived.

For those thinking of doing this just know that 90 percent of everyone that tries this die. It is a miracle he survived without an oxygen mask, especially since the plane goes up very fast to that altitude. It takes humans days to slowly go up to that height when travelling up to a mountain top city like Machu Picchu in Peru to slowly acclimate to the lack of oxygen. He just probably passed out for most of the trip.

Keith Sapsford. He fell 200 ft to his death because the compartment he hid in opened back up when the wheels got retracted.

He probably flew in more comfort than United Airlines economy class. Seriously, I wonder how he's doing now. He's lucky to be alive. A thin atmosphere at 37, 000+ feet, not to mention temperatures like you're at the South Pole.
