Large Buckler Shield from Medieval Shoppe Australia
The buckler is comfortable to hold. There is ample space in the boss for the hand to fit without a problem. The grip itself is a sheet of steel sandwiched between curved wood. The general shape of the buckler is very well formed. The buckler was spun to shape, a process where the buckler is ground while rotating at a very high speed. This process allows the shields to be mass produced with less time and effort involved, which helps keep the price down. The drawback to this non-historical method is that it leaves the face "too perfect" for a true replica - someone involved in living history or reenactment who has a high demand for historical accuracy should take note of this, but it is the only fault we could find. The rivets holding the grip down are nicely domed with no sharp spots, and the rim is rolled back so that there are no dangerous edges. For martial arts purposes this is important to help ensure safety. The rear of the buckler is painted a flat black, which is a period solution for preventing rust.

Great video showcasing the buckler in use and I enjoyed the historical references of archers and pole arm users carrying a sword and buckler as backup weapons. With all the larger shields getting spotlight, some being very heavy, people tend to forget just how light and versatile bucklers are and why they would be preferred in certain situations. My buckler is pretty beaten from SCA and ACW. Just knock out the dings and bends oil it up some and it’s good to go! To be easier on the Rattan weapons I just added from car door edging to it and it seems to have helped.

Great video, but make sure you have a backup plan in case your channel gets randomly deleted after December 10 of this year. YouTube is changing their terms of service so that they can delete any channel without warning for any reason whatsoever. Based on the company's history of censoring channels on firearms and hunting, I suggest you back up your cannel on bitchute in case it gets deleted without warning.

As you have personal experience working with Roland, I'd be intrigued to hear your take on the style he has recreated for sword and buckler or Viking shield and how it relates to SCA style combat. Different rules and tools produce different styles of combat so I'm curious about your views on best practises regarding approximating realism.

One of the bucklers biggest strengths is the shield bash, with the rim or on the buckle. Put your weight behind it.
