Edward Elric, also known as Ed or the Fullmetal Alchemist, is the titular protagonist of the Fullmetal Alchemist series. After losing his right arm and left leg due to a failed Human Transmutation attempt, Ed became the youngest State Alchemist in history by achieving his certification at age twelve. Three years later, Ed has become fully engrossed in his search for the legendary Philosopher's Stone, an item with which he hopes to restore his younger brother Alphonse Elric, whose whole body had been lost in the aftermath of the human transmutation.

Edward is SUCH a good character. He can def be the typical OP but he has such human motivations and emotions. I really love the way his character was built. He wasn’t some go-lucky boy helping people to help them. He was doing it for his own gain but still had a kind heart. Him ‘retiring’ was the perfect ending and so was him and Al being separated. I genuinely love this show so much and I’m glad it’s still talked abt to this day

What's interesting about Envy is that he only refers to Ed as "Full Metal Pipsqueak" for most of the series. As he says his goodbye to Ed, that's the first and only time Envy refers to him as Edward Elric.
