E.T. does in fact say, "E.T. Phone home". Just YT the scene. He doesn't initially say it, but he does repeat it after the kids say, "Phone home" which switches the intial way E.T. said it. The kids & E.T. then repeat it a few more time the "phone home" way.

The reason "of the world" sticks out is because that IS sang mid way through the song. Regardless of it being said at the end, this is why it comes to mind.
