I really like the fact that the "rules" are made to sow confusion by starting the verse after the "three" one by "for" that can trick the brain into continue to count.
Even if you never reach five, if you took four, it's one too many and you lost.
It's only my own interpretation but I like the fact that the old man (who implied to be the devil with the use of the three 6) never lied. He used a trick, knowing the person would fall for it but he DID warn about the danger of it. The perfect way to show free will and how small mistake, small weakness can lead you down to your doom without you realizing it.

I really love this song and I will definitely take a look of the rest of your work because you're definitely an amazing writer.
