How do you leave a gang? Former drug dealer calls LBC to explain

After a fourteen year old boy was stabbed to death on a London bus, former gangster Daniel calls LBC to offer his candid advice and insight.

Daniel started dealing drugs aged 12 and by the end of his teens he says he was making £20,000 every day. He explains how difficult it is to incentivise gang members to leave that money and lifestyle behind to get a 'proper job'.

But Daniel, having done it himself, describes how he turned his life around and pleads with LBC's listeners to get out of the city if their children get involved in gang crime, as that is 'the only way' to break the cycle.

Possibly the best call ever made to LBC-so many issues that are ignored and treated with contempt by those in power fleshed out through a caller's personal experience, the call is an education as of itself

What a geezer. His voice needs a much bigger platform. His story needs to be told.

I love how middle class people just don't believe what working class people go through.

Long-term listener here. This was possibly one of the greatest and most educational conversations ever to take place on LBC. What most middle and upper class people tend to not understand about the lower working class ways of life is exactly what is explained on this call - brilliantly articulated too. Crime and gang activity in the UK is continuously on the rise and people like Daniel absolutely need a platform to share their experiences. IMHO transparency like this could genuinely aid our society onto a better path.

That's quite possibly the best call I've ever heard on LBC. The situation will only ever get worse, because they'd never, ever have people like him in government.

This guy speaks a lot of sense.

You can either be shaped by your environment or transcend it.

A lot of kids in these areas don’t know how to transcend their surroundings.

I am from Liverpool this man is telling the truth. I am a mother who went through all this. I would not wish what I went through on my worst enemy

Interviewer is out of his depth on this one. Doesn't know what to ask, can't relate. Understandably though
