Labor and Delivery Nurse and 4x momma here 🥳 You did a GREAT job with what to bring! I would add extra hair ties and a comfy headband for labor.

If you would like a relaxing scent, an oil diffuser is nice. Not only can it help relax you but it also acts as a “sensory wall” for all the medical staff to walk “through” when they enter the room. It tells them that relaxation is important to you ❤️

For baby girl:
It is totally up to you! I have had moms have a different outfit each day for their baby and others that only have a “bringing the baby home” outfit. I will say that when I worked in postpartum and nursery, it was always fun to see what cute outfits moms packed and they acted as a double security because we knew by sight who’s baby belonged to whom (of course they should always check baby bands anytime they separate mom and baby). And bringing your own swaddle blanket is nice because the nurses can teach you both with YOUR blanket. She may not be big enough for the Velcro one but the big stretchy blankets from Lou Lou are so nice. Another thing that is helpful is baby nail files (the hospital will not clip her long nails). And it is great for breastfeeding to have their hands out and not in mittens 😊

For Josh:
I always recommend dads (and your mom) to bring headache medicine. They will get headaches from pulling all nighters in both L/D and PP and the nurse cannot give them medication since they are not their patient. Also, slippers are great for him to quickly put on if a nurse would like to weigh baby girl out of the room, etc. usually the beds for dad are slim and minimal, so anything that can help him get to sleep. You guys will want to nap during the day so eye masks are helpful.

And if you’re a movie buff, I’ve seen parents bring a tiny movie projector for postpartum and made the night like a date. So cute!

Congratulations❤🎉

Love you kass! I was so proud when you talked about not wanting to film a ton. It made me happy because it’s your decision and that you are so close to us to be open about how you feel. No pressure to film at ALL or show her face! My first nephew is almost one soon and we don’t show his face anywhere but Facebook, which is controversial but we really limit who we are connected to on it and honestly, we should all field free to show our baby’s either way. So anyways, kass, we love and support you no matter what. Do NOT feel the need or anything to film at the hospital and even after she is home! I love you and I’m praying for a great labor and speedy recovery!

I would really recommend taking extra long sanitary towels and loads of them, too, as well as the maternity underwear. Layer them suckers up!! The first period after delivery is no joke!! Also, take some paracetamol/pain relief yourself. For baby girl I would pack baby grows/vests as there can be many blow outs. Id also take nappys/diappers (a packet) Dummy/pacifier. Good luck and wish you all the best and speedy recovery from labour. Motherhood is ine of the best things in life and all the stress is worth it when you hold you baby girl fornthe first time. X

Hi Kass!! I’ve been a silence viewer for awhile. But what you packed for yourself, you nailed it. For baby, make sure to pack a premie outfit, a nb size onesie, and a 0-3 month onesie like you said.

For Josh, when I packed my husband’s bag, I made sure to pack shorts and sweats depending on the temp in the room. A shirt and sweaters. His underwear. His toiletries. A blanket and his pillow for himself. Then his charger.

I’m so excited for your journey as parents and how far y’all came! Can’t wait for pics of baby girl! ❤

Hey kass,
I asked some people who've been through it, and this is what they recommend packing in your hospital bag!

Hospital Bag Checklist:

For Mom:
Documents & Essentials
ID, insurance card, and any hospital paperwork.
Birth plan (if you have one).

Comfortable Clothing:

Loose-fitting nightgowns or pajamas (with buttons if breastfeeding).
A comfortable outfit for going home (think loose, stretchy, and cozy).
Warm socks and slippers (hospital floors can be cold!).
A robe or cardigan for layering.

Underwear & Maternity Items:

High-waisted, soft underwear (big enough for postpartum pads).
Maternity/nursing bras and breast pads (for leaks).
Postpartum pads or adult diapers (some hospitals provide these, but it’s good to have extras).

Toiletries:

Toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss.
Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash (travel-sized is handy).
Deodorant and face wipes.
Lip balm (hospital air can be very dry).
Hair ties or a headband.
A small towel if you prefer your own.

Extras for Comfort:

A water bottle with a straw.
Snacks (especially for after delivery).
Phone charger (preferably a long one).
Earplugs or a sleep mask (if you’re sensitive to noise/light).
A pillow or blanket from home (optional but comforting).

Other Essentials:

Pain relief spray or creams (e.g., for postpartum discomfort).
Nipple cream (for breastfeeding moms).

For Baby:

Clothing:

2–3 outfits (newborn size and 0–3 months, just in case).
A hat and mittens (to keep baby warm and prevent scratches).
Socks or booties.

Essentials:

A swaddle blanket or receiving blanket.
Diapers (most hospitals provide some, but it’s good to have extras).
Wipes (sensitive or water-based ones).

Going Home:

A special going-home outfit (if desired).
A car seat (properly installed and tested before arrival).

For Your Partner/Support Person:
Comfortable clothes and a sweater (hospital rooms can be chilly).
Snacks and drinks.
Entertainment (tablet, book, or headphones).
A pillow or blanket if they’re staying overnight.

Pro Tip: Pack everything in a small suitcase or duffle bag so it’s easy to carry, and keep the baby’s things in a separate bag for quick access.

Hopefully this helps! Wishing you all the best—it’s going to be such a special day 💕

I feel like this pregnancy has gone by so fast. It feels like just yesterday when you told us you were pregnancy! I was so happy and emotional watching this! I wish you the best of luck and just know we will all love your miracle baby, just like we love you!

Edit: someone pointed out a spelling mistake and I corrected it

Hey girl, coming from someone who had two babies I think you did pretty good. I would just suggest bringing your own towel and shower shoes. The towel the hospital gave me was so small and rough so I definitely brought my own for my second baby and it was so much better. I would also suggest a ton of hair ties, dry shampoo, and a portable fan. ❤️ Sending prayers for a safe and smooth delivery and an easy recovery.
