Great video man, glad I checked it out and wish I'd known about it a few months ago when I was trying to figure all this stuff out...hope it's part of the tutorials database over on Cakewalk Discuss as everybody should know about this so they won't have to try to figure everything out on their own;breaks everything down clearly/understandably and shows you exactly what you need to know about things...excellent!!

On a related topic. A lot of newbies might appreciate a tutorial on how to use the plugin manager utility, e.g., how to set up scan paths for plugins, how to create, organize and save plugin menus, Also, VST and VST2 plugins can be placed anywhere convenient on a system, e.g., a second hard drive, but VST3's are installed in a particular location on the root drive and cannot be moved elsewhere and still function.

I'm new to this but am loving Cakewalk so far. One thing that irks me is if I import midi (so as to look at an arrangement for example) then I have to associate each midi track with a simple instrument track and then with a VST. Is there a way to do this so I don't end up with tracks all over the place?

Please help. I am new to Cakewalk. I had installed a vst to designated folder and have my Cakewalk scan it according to your video. The problem is, this new vst is added (it showed on notification) but I can't find it on the plugin layout manager.

Thanks for the video. Can you show how you add presets to your vst’s. Quite a few vst’s have factory presets that you have to load yourself e.g Sinnah. Can you show how you do this. Thanks

How about lessons on consolidating Plug-in folders? And also moving the unused ones on to external drives in case you want to try them more later or decide to delete them all together. My plugins are out of hand and I only use about 25% of them and probably only 10 % on a regular basis.

I have many plugins installed in recognized folders, but when I scan Cakewalk doesn't add them.

To answer your question about why use VST2 when you have VST3 there have been instances where the VST3 was too unstable and I have had to reinstall the VST2 to mitigate the problems. It doesn't happen often but it has happened 😃
