I showed up in a tank top shorts and flip-flops and was scolded for not being in uniform, which is dress slacks, white shirt, and tie in a meeting on my day off, and I’m not getting paid for it, so I left and never came back

Bruh…had a job when I was younger, they expected us to be ready to work and on-site 15 minutes before the start of the shift everyday. I basically refused that and would show up 5 minutes or less on site ready to work, the owner was pissed that I wouldn’t do this, but I broke down the math on a 5 day work week and basically over the course of a year that’s 36 hrs or approximately 1 weeks worth of full time work that I wasn’t getting paid for, he didn’t expect that answer and immediately changed the subject to how I wasn’t performing up to expectations to which I was surprised because literally 1 month before I was awarded a plaque for exemplary work. Here’s the thing, if you’re going at your boss or owner, you need to be honest with yourself and see if you’re performing at the top level of your peers, otherwise your superiors will change subject and find something to bitch about. Don’t give them ammunition, because they will use it.

I HAD a mandatory meeting TWO hours before my shift save? I actually work third and literally wake up for work and? This IS literally cutting into my sleeping time DESPITE being to be paid to be there then wouldn't be scheduled an HOUR LATER to actually work. So? No, I'm NOT doing it, I'm in my mid fifties and my sleep is non-negotiable. Giving me a hour long mandatory two hours before I have to work? Sleep isn't a on off thing you can flip like a switch and STILL get the proper amount of sleep. Sleep works BEST when uninterrupted and I'm getting too old to pull off this shit..
