What a great observation of Zuko showing different sides of his face based on his decisions. As many times as I watched Avatar, I never catched that. I love the series even more now.

Man, if that was in one of the shows I would've cried

I would have loved to see Zuko enter the spirit world through the portals to go find his uncle Iroh in the Spirit world. That would have been a great reunion

This is a FAN COMIC for those thinking that it’s canon. Mike Dimartino on Braving The Elements said that healing Zuko’s scar wouldn’t have had him switch sides into being good, because he still had internal healing to do. With that being said, I hate how Avatar fans want Zuko to lose his scar so badly. He never deserved to get half his face burnt off, that’s true. But the scar represents so much - it’s part of his legacy and his past. He said it himself: the scar doesn’t define him. He’s learned to embrace it by the end of the show.

That almost made me cry, you wouldn't believe how that scar has been the definition of him for like 80 something years of his life letting it go and changing again is 😭 heart holding

I didn't know the idea of you telling about Zuko's left and right angles on his face between right & wrong, this is something I did not foresee, even as a young adult.

I am in tears on a random Friday afternoon because of this 😭 I appreciated that Zuko wanted to keep his scar because I think it was his way of realizing and remembering the real scars he needed to focus on were internal. And the Agni Kai with his father was arguably the biggest turning point of his life, but despite all of the pain in the coming years, it was able to build a path towards inner peace and happiness for him once he let go of needing approval from such a wicked man. So I thought if he ever were to heal his scar, it’d be then, after he was at peace. Surely over the decades it was a painful reminder of his father and sister, but it was also a trophy that showed despite all of the horrors, he overcame. He isn’t running away from or hiding the things that happened to him by removing his scar, he just knows it’s ok to let it go now. So seeing this old man who we met as a broken little boy finally being content and able to say let’s “close this chapter” 😭😭😭 no one talk to me I’m gonna go sob

I can never Imagine Zuko without his scar. Now, I can.

I like that Zuko's scar is finally healed. It was finally putting end to this hard chapter of his life. Seeing his face finally heal and seeing his reflection, he found peace. Seeing his younger self in the water is very sweet.

Finally undid Ozai's cruelty and put it in the past. I can see the ghost of Ozai and Azula seeing this and furious that Zuko is heal and got everything while they don't and face damnation.

I found it very poetic that Zuko was the one to train Aang fire bending in the show.
But I feel like Zuko's scare should not have been removable. It's a testimony to his struggles, his way back to good and triumph over evil.

Some people will try to manipulate you, even go so far as to scar you, physically or emotionally, to make you into who they want you to be. They will try and change your physical or even emotional identity.

Maybe the question is not will you allow them, since scars are often inflicted upon us at childhood, which we can not/do not know how to remove... but after you have seen the truth, who will you be? Who they want you to be, or who you were always meant to be?

It's hard to tell the difference between the scarred identity and your true self. It's hard to banish a scar that someone you loved/trusted gave to you. It's really hard. I wish I was past those scars.

But it's never too late to heal your scars. And that's why we should always keep trying.

Thanks to the ATLA writers for this great show. Modern art at it's finest. ❤

Woah, I never noticed that in the show! Looking to the left to show his scar when making a wrong decision. Thanks for pointing that out. Never thought I could love this show even more.

The fact that goes from black and white into color wow just adding that much more impact to it

I think the reason zuko never got his scar healed in the show is because he didn't want it to be healed. Katara must have brought it up again at least once in the last few years.
