The only fly I wouldn't try to kill. Not just because they aren't trying to be annoying, but because they are friendly.

They are the jackass of the "bug" kingdom if I cut firewood they often come up to you being curious it almost seems like that they are trying to communicate not threatening but very curious! 🙂

Saw one of these in our backyard and argued with my parents for fifteen minutes on why it wasn’t a wasp/hornet! Lol

This is interesting, I was just outside cutting and sanding deck railing sections, and something that looked like a hornet came at me at lightning speed and actually followed me around the deck for a while before I finally retreated into the house not wanting to get stung. I had a feeling it was a imposter because of the way it was flying… very fast and just stopping dead cold in mid-air at times. I was fascinated and my research lead me to this video.I had never heard of flys being attracted by cutting wood, wonder what it is that makes them interested. The guy that harassed me sure seemed determined to check out my work area and my personal space! 😀

Lol, at school at the bus station, a hoverfly landed on me and my classmate was like "There's a wasp on your hand!" But i didn't get scared, cuz i knew that was a hoverfly and it isn't dangerous
