Tanzania's New Electric Railway Sets the Country on a Greener Path | Firstpost Africa

Tanzania has launched a new electrified commuter railway line, connecting Dar es Salaam and Dodoma. Built by a Turkish company as part of a larger Standard Gauge Railway network, the 440-kilometre line aims to modernize the country's transport system, reduce travel time, and cut pollution. Featuring air-conditioned carriages with Wi-Fi, the railway provides a comfortable alternative to older buses. As Kenyans, I think we should agree that Tanzania 🇹🇿 is quietly and rapidly not just overtaking but actually replacing Kenya as the preferred investment destination and economic powerhouse of East Africa! While many mega projects in Kenya are in limbo due to corruption and shortage of funds, Tanzania on the other hand ensures most of its mega projects are built to completion, even if it takes a bit longer for them to finish it!
Both of Kenya’s financial bills of 2023/24 and 2024/25 have been deemed unconstitutional by the Supreme Court which means Kenya has nowhere to get the money needed to fund the country’s important sectors or even repay the ridiculous debts that we have! 😢 And though I’m optimistic for Kenya, we can’t deny the fact that it’s gonna take time to fix all this mess! Until then, let me congratulate Tanzania for doing a good job! 👏
