Tanzania tests electric train on new SGR line

Tanzania has started to test its first, maiden, Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) electric train along the Dar-es-salaam and Morogoro section.
The Tanzania SGR hit a speed of 160Km/h compared to Kenya’s SGR that uses diesel and can move up to 120Km/h.
It is being expected that, once commissioned for service, the new SGR train should be able to travel at the velocity of 160 kilometers per hour, which is essentially twice the speed of an ordinary bus.

Both countries, Kenya and Tanzania are steadily progressing well in terms of strategic infrastructure. Kudos to Uhuru Kenyatta and the late Magufuli, currently the Iron Lady President Samia is leading the way.

I am Chinese. I just cannot understand why Tanzanians and Kenyans argue about which train is better, electric or gas. They are both good. One only needs tracks but use gas. The other needs electric network but with less pollution.

Kenyan chose gas train and it has been operational for many years. It is much more cost effective. Tanzania chose electric train which is more advanced but demands better infrastructure. They are both very good choices. The real deal is MAKE THINGS WORK and KEEP THINGS WORKING. And it seems both Kenya and Tanzania both MAKE THE TRAINS WORK AND BOTH INTEND TO KEEP THINGS WORKING. That is dedication.

Proud of both Kenya and Tanzania. Best wishes!

Tanzania is doing the right thing as Ethiopia has done. Industrialising and creating First World Infrastructure. Tanzania is firmly on the road to prosperity. Electric traction means domestic power generation and no oil dependency. Electricity is "White Coal"

For a moment I thought it was the typical video in which the thumbnail is photoshopped. But it turns out that this exceeded my expectations: an ÖBB train in Tanzania. And I thought it was a false production of Clickbait.

Thanks Sanchez for educating some of Kenyans fools. KENYA is way ahead of African countries in infrastructure. President Uhuru has done wonderful job, but only some fools saying barabara tutakula au SGR itakua ugali tule. SGR, , roads, dams, ports, and many other projects in Kenya are part of Kenyas development. The future government will have little to do because of these mega projects that Uhuru administration is doing, as Kikuyus saying goes, (imenyagwo yari ilia yakua). Kudos Mr president, watakukumbuka.

Tanzania's capital budgeting decision making is very poor compared to Kenya's. We do not appreciate ourselves enough.
Tanzania has financed 70% of railway internally, but it has taken Tanzania 5 years to complete and test only 300 km stretch of electric SGR. The Tz SGR electric train cannot start operations until 2024 when they will have sufficient electricity from the new dam they are building. Meanwhile, they will have to absorb the opportunity costs, depreciation costs, security costs, wear and tear costs, maintenance costs, interest costs, vandalism costs, and other costs for the 3 years their new railway will be idle and depreciating.
Meanwhile in Kenya, we borrowed 90% of the finances from China. We completed 600km of SGR in record 3.5 years. And since 2019, the Kenyan SGR has been evacuating an average of 1.5 million passengers and 8 million tons of freight annually. The Kenyan SGR is paying its Chinese loan with minimal input from treasury.
Which country made the better decision? Is it Tanzania with self-financing, or is it Kenya going for Chinese loans??🤔🤔
