I followed this guide to replace the thermal paste on my Gigabyte 2070 Super. It was running at 85-90 degrees and the fans were very loud. Now it's running at 60 degrees, virtually silent. The thermal paste was totally wrecked after three years. Good guide, even though I didn't understand the language. Thanks for posting!

I have that same screwdriver and now I see, so THAT'S what that long metal bit in between is for !! I always thought it was just there out of cheapness, not to extend the length of the screwdriver!

I just measured. Memory chips use .5mm, the rest is 1mm. Idk what the back plate is, but it’s probably 2mm

You should try phase-change material Honeywell PTM7950. It comes in as a sheet, lasts longer, performs works better than traditional pastes and there is no pump-out effect. Instead of thermal pads, I advise you to apply thermal putty Upsiren UX Pro.
It is also a good idea to do undervolting.
