lets not forget that usually the bass will keep playing the root note an octave down so your not loosing that clarity of the chord progression

Chord inversions work great in any music genre I urge everyone to try them out. Kris just "gave away" Tony Iommy's trick for dark sounding Sabbath songs..

I've been doing that for a long time, so it bugs me when people in tutorial videos say that it's enough to do power chords with only two strings. I also pick the third string on the D string, the octave of the root note, when playing power chords on the 6th string. Just feels better.

I always play at least 3. I’ve always noticed that the added note not only adds dynamic range, but gives enough extra volume to push the distortion.

I got used doing this back in the nineties and been doing it since. Don't exactly know where I got it from.

Not only powerchords but also normal chords adding the extra bassnote aka slash chords

When learning notes on your fret-board, when you play a 3-note power chord, your first and fourth finger are always the same note.

Oh! Now I know how you play the hard rock riff in episode ''how to get every sound with strat'', killer riff, and I thought the root is on E string

Hello, I am wondering who, records the guitar samples, playings for each guitar and amp, and how can we find the tabs if possible? :P

No hack for Powerchords with the root note on the E string as well? =( I often struggle to expand them ^^

Kids, when trying to make any chord sound bigger and fuller, especially power chords, always look to Alex Lifeson. 'Cuz any string that doesn't ring is an awful waste of that thing.

you can do the same with the third instead of the fith. it sounds like shit if the intonation is not perfect but imo it's better than always playing root+5th

Pinch harmonics and whammy dives all day long, I guess that’s not a trick?

Or just turn it to "11" for that extra push over the top.
