Best tip is to take a look at the job postings that interest you. Take an honest look at your current skills vs what the companies are asking for. If you don't have these skills it's up to you to get them. I've been in the IT field for 17 years and I use this same strategy when I am looking. You can't always gain experience in every skill that employers want so sometimes you need to get the skill yourself. Download the software and work with it. Soon you will be able to add it to your res!

Andres, my recommendation would be to list those certs on the resume, make sure to tailor it to your networking experience. Then seek out entry-level networking positions. This is probably the best way considering you are trying to break out of the help desk track.

great format especially having almost two decades of experience. True enough, how can one summarize a lengthy career in one page. I'm going to create another resume with this format. Thank you for the video.

A lot of companies are looking for non-IT skill sets for an intro level job. Support Desk, Cabler, etc all are good starting points. MANY help desk positions just want someone that can learn and explain what they have learned to others.

That's a great question. Does anybody in the Nugget Community have any inputs? When lacking experience, it is important to highlight skills that you may have. Also conveying passion for specific fields can show you are a ready and able to learn.

You should make a video on getting through the technical interview. Thanks :)

Everything is very easy if you have a lot of years of experience. What if you`re a new holder of some good certificate without many years of experience?
