You guys broke my heart today. I can't comprehend how so many people can have such a lack of curiosity.

I normally respect a majority of TYT's work, but this video is really disappointing. I agree with most of those posting below. Science matters. It is sad to see Ana and Cenk make fun of those who care about science. This video feels like it should be on Fox News.

I witnessed the last solar eclipse at totality in Casper, Wyoming. In the midst of all the darkness in the world at that time it was a breathtaking moment of peace. I was among a crowd of people who stopped off the highway to watch it.

This is one of those "stop and smell the roses" moments.

Ana is missing a huge layer to all of this. On a cosmic scale, humans have only been around for a few seconds; and for a literal handful of humans to have accomplished this feat is truly remarkable. Sure we may not be the only sentient life in the universe, but it's clear to see that life isn't teeming all around us. This is another milestone for humanity and this flippant opinion by Ana is a slap in the face of literal billions of years and a series of countless events that was necessary to occur for this to even be possible.

Damn guys I'm so sad to see this. Advancements like THIS TELESCOPE are regularly responsible for solving scientific problems we face on earth. This thing will give us a much clearer understanding of the universe and everything within it, including us. Who knows, it might just discover the thing which saves us from climate change. This is an incredibly exciting new era for science.

This was painful to watch, how can people be so scientifically illiterate!

I’m sorry, but Ana has no sense of wonder. Even with the condition of planet and all the problems we have in society if you don’t take a break and look around at the world and the universe your mind and sense of awe stagnates.

Ana is mostly wrong on this one. I dont like how Biden stole the spotlight. This was a joint project between Canadian Space Agency, European Space Agency and NASA, the scientists and engineers involved should have delivered this and been highlighted. People have been waiting half a year for the first images. This will be a 20+ year mission that has a high chance of changing how we view the universe. This is a marvel of science and engineering.
There is no reason we couldnt both save earth and continue to explore the universe. Dont penalize a ridicule scientists that are efficient, productive and successful with the miniscule budgets they are given.

I’ve been an amateur astronomer for about 45 years. I struggle with the perceived self importance of celebrities, people in sports and politicians. The idea of how much the discovery of extraterrestrial life world change us is completely missed by most people. I feel like as a species we need a cosmic smack down. We’re too full of ourselves.

How could you not be absolutely amazed by images from outer space? 🤔

Don’t you guys often use the phrase “it’s possible to walk and chew gum at the same time?” Well, can’t we care about the current state of our planet while also caring about issues outside of our planet?

I believe there is no greater issue facing humanity than the destruction of our planet and what we can do to save it, if possible. But at the same time, humans exist in the universe for not even the blink of an eye in the history of time. We don’t matter all that much, or at all really. We might as well find out everything we can about the wonders of the universe in the very short time that we are here.

After a scroll down at the comments, I just want to say how much I really appreciated how the overwhelming majority of you guys have come to the defense of this scientific achievement. YOU GUYS GIVE ME HOPE that we are not all heading in the direction of the dark ages, ignorance and conspiracy. Politics and economics have failed us. Scientific curiosity, exploration engineering and discovery will get us out of the mess we are in!! It broke my heart when TYT ridiculed and belittled the JWST and all those scientists and engineers who worked for decades to further our understanding of the universe. This understanding will ultimately allow us to create solutions to our climate crisis and fuel crisis, which will have a huge impact on our way of life and economy. Thankyou to the majority of you who commented in the positive for JWST and defended this remarkable achievement!!!

Why is it so hard to put the world's problems aside for five minutes and just smell the flowers? Or in this case, looking what a new telescope can help us see of the Universe we live in?

I am a fan of TYT, but that was a scientific illiteracy

I am very happy that the majority of the people here understand the importance of the James Webb telescope

Normally I agree with Cenk and Anna. But not today. This is something that we can be proud of and be reminded that we capable of great things. Humanity moves forward. We can't always focus on the negative. The lack of wonder is suprising

Let's just take a moment to reflect on natures beauty and appreciate the lengths scientist's have come to open up new frontiers. Sometimes it's nice to steer away from so much stresses we face day to day in what we hear and see on the news. A little break to just appreciate other things is okay ☺️

Ana and Cenk talking about eclipses are like Republicans talking about climate change.

I can’t believe that they are working hard to discount this great scientific achievement . Although there are concerning things going on with human affairs, humanity must advance.

Sorry Ana, I usually agree with you, but JWST is one of the best things the US did in recent decades. As progressives, we should be pro-science.
