What is the lacquer that you sprayed on at the end, because the cork is to absorb the condensation, now you have a nice picture there. Maybe put the paper down with "dishwasher safe" - mod podge, under and over and then spray a lacker?
I use indoor outdoor clear spray in the sheen that I'm looking for but it never comes out as good as you think it is.
