The P2 6 marker is definatley COM experiment

When an element goes under alpha decay they lose 2 protons and neutrons from their nucleus as the particle has helium nuclei but when under beta decay a YouTuber said every neutron is converted into a proton and electron but in a book it showed the same mass number as it is protons +neutrons but if every neutron was converted into other particle then the mass number should be lower than the original element.

How many marks would this get me for the 6 mark question
Alpha particles in form of helium nuclei with 2 protons and 2 neutrons with a huge size which means they are strongly ionising as they knock off electrons when they collide into atoms. They get deflected in the magnetic field in the opposite direction because of their positive charge and because of their large mass this means that are deflected less. Beta Particles are just small electrons which means that they are moderately ionising as they have a long range in air, in the magnetic field they are deflected less because of their relatively small mass and deflected in the opposite direction because of their negative charges. Gamma Rays are just Electromagnetic rays they penetrate easily through materials without being stopped and pass through in the air. They are not deflected in the electric field because they have no charge and no mass. :-)
