Pivot Shuttle SL Review | 2024 eMTB Lite Group Review

Back in the mix for our 2024 SL eMTB Shootout, @pivotcyclesusa ’s answer to the lightweight eBike question was always going to be a fun one to include. With a more wallet-conscious build than the five-figure machine that we tested previously, we were excited to see what the Shuttle SL Ride SLX/XT could do this time around.

We’d like to offer a huge thank you to our sponsors: Outdoor Research, Schwalbe Tires, Ride Concepts and the Running Y Resort. Without their gracious support, these types of content series would not be possible. Give them a thanks down below!

This review's co-host (Cole?) is the best one on the Loam Wolf's team. After losing Dario to PB, I hope to see more of this guy. Really knowledgable and using descriptive adjectives and not having that "bro" feel.

I ride Heckler sl, my partner is on switchblade, so fazua here perfect on Santa not so 😉 and Santa so expensive but Pivot -very affordable 😉
We ride for almost 20 years we can judge what we like or not, but hey cool dudes check what you’re talking about, obviously good riders but try be more to the point
All the bikes now are 7 thousand more
Pivot starts 9.5 in £ for slx, so get the grip 😉🤦
Good filming 👍

Pivot's entire model range speaks to me. Basically the last company in the industry still designing around play and control. And it absolutely obliterates me that I could barely afford half the entry cost to their bikes. I can't even sniff their cheapest MSRP FS bike. I think my FS bike is close to the price of their dirt jumper lol. Regardless, props to them for sticking to their guns and not chugging marketing kool aid.

Are you guys reviewing the Santa Cruz vala? Very curious how it compares to the amflow

I've had a shuttle SL for 18mnths and absolutely loved it as a bike. Unfortunately, it's gone back under warranty for a full refund, just too many failures and lack of support meant that the bike has been out of action for around 5 mnths. Watching these videos with interest to try and pick out a replacement but I'm finding it hard because when it worked it was great, the options seem either a bit underpowered or have annoying noise issues.

I m thinking to move to pivot, looks good quality as santacruz.

Sounds like a good bike for midwest trails. Not everyone has access to big vert downhills.

I’m glad you guys testing the “Race Build” SL, being an owner of a LT and AM. I know the price is hard to swallow for many but I have to say the overall suspension feel of the DW-Link, frame quality, builds spec range and the excellent customer service is well worth my investment.

$9000 for SLX? I'm sorry - thats unacceptable and frankly a slap in the face for consumers. Tired of the price gouging.

This bike is perfect for my local trails. Definitely not made for black diamnind trails like they stated in the video. Its a light trail bike.

Well I wish they would have gone to the Bosch SX on the SL, that would’ve been a better improvement than the Bosch Race on the LT. I got the LT with Shimano 801 after watching your reviews and love it. You’ll are great, but can you include the number for shock stroke please, that would be a relevant addition and then I would not have to look it up.

I’m a bit puzzled as to why this test report overlooks the impact of the longer fork and why your comments don’t seem to address it. The head angle of 65° or 65.5° is based on the frame, correct? However, the addition of a 160mm fork results in a less steep effective head angle, which is a significant deviation from the stock setup. I hope this will be discussed in the final analysis. "with a 160mm fork up front" really isn't enough information. For my own setup, I opted for a 160mm fork along with one Burgtec Offset Shock Hardware bushing on my 2023 Orbea Rise M20. While the frame specs indicate a head angle of 66°/66.5° (with 150/140mm forks), the effective head angle is closer to 64.5° due to my non-stock components.
On another note, it’s pouring rain and quite windy today, which makes me wish I were out riding instead of sitting here!
I’ve checked the Pivot site, but I couldn’t find any mention of a 160mm fork for the SL. Perhaps I missed it, or maybe it’s a specification that will be introduced in 2025. Maybe 160mm is the rep/supplier intervention knowing the competition?

Why didn’t they use the Bosch SX which is better than the Fazua??

Why is that no one in the media is <fully> addressing Fazua issues? Everyone is dancing around the absurd number of failures of motors, batteries, and controllers. Just a “oh there’s a small reliability issue” lol no. It’s a large reliability issue. Did they update any hard parts in the motors? Did they update the ring controller at all? How about battery connection?
