Did you know that sugar can negatively impact the appearance of your skin? 

Eating too many foods with a high glycemic (sugar) index can lead to inflammation in the body, which affects the skin. Excess sugar can flair skin conditions such as acne, eczema and accelerate the visible signs of aging. 

Consuming a diet with a high sugar intake can accelerate the development of wrinkles and fine lines through a process called glycation. When processed and artificial sugar enters our bloodstream, it can attach to collagen and elastin proteins in the skin and break them down. Resulting in the skin losing its elasticity and wrinkles formation.

In addition to these effects, foods with a high glycemic (sugar) index can also cause oil production and inflammation, leading to acne breakouts through the spike in your blood sugar activating hormones in the body that stimulate oil production in the skin. We need this naturally produced oil called sebum to help keep the skin stay moisturized. However, too much oil on the skin can cause your pores to become clogged.

Derm tip: to minimize the negative impact sugar has on your body stick to a healthy well-balanced diet, especially If you are prone to inflammation. Of course, everything in moderation but for your best skin health limit the amount of sugar you consume.

Reducing excess sugar was one of the best decisions for my health. My skin looks clearer and less oily. The first step is honestly to cut out all drinks that have excess sugar and sticking to only water.

I stopped eating sugar a couple of months ago and my sugar addiction is gone now. Eating more vegetables and fruit. Result flawless skin... best decission ever!

Also maybe feeling thick mucus/saliva in your throat. I heard this is due to candida overgrowth from eating too much sugar

I used to eat so much chocolate, Oreos, jolly ranchers and much more sweets. I stopped eating a lot of sugar 2 years ago and now when I only eat 2 Oreo’s I already get sugar high that even my head hurts. I used to love frosting on cake so much but now I scrape all of it off. I stopped eating alot of sugar at a pretty young age and I’m so happy I stopped. The only sugary things I like a lot are sodas 🤫

The last one is SO TRUE.

But i at least switched my main form of consumption (adding it in my chocolatemilk and tea everyday) of sugar to sweetener.
I got amazed on how much sugar I actually stopped BUYING just making one simple switch.

Also, most fruit juices don’t actually need sugar (specially orange, grape and wildberries) but if you’re gonna add it, use sweetener! Sucralose is the best tasting one in my opinion :)

I definitely have too many eye wrinkles. I smile really hard and I am expressive. To young to have these lines around my eyes. I actually hadn't drank juice or pop in years bit a family issue got me stressed and when I am stressed. I drink a lot of surgery drinks and it's definitely had my skin acting up. I should do a water cleanse.

Yup! I eat very healthy and in one week vacation I went ham with the sugar and my skin started getting little bumps, even though I use retin A, sunscreen and vitamin C. As soon as I got home to my normal food intake, the bumps went away!

Last one is so true, at one point after eating wholesome, even salad leaves started to taste sweet and nutty to me (the ones that had that taste, some are still bitter), but if I go off my healthy eating and come back... They all taste like grass.
