What would your reaction be to seeing your friend posting a bunch of pictures of themselves every single day with the hashtag ‘depression’? While many people may think that it’s a way for them to get attention, these behaviors may really be a cry for help. The person doing it may actually be struggling with their mental health.

Worst advice my parents ever gave me: “Stop being sad. We had it tougher when we were your age.”

And they wonder I never open up to them.

This right here “Their love squashes my self hate”. Having a loving community will get you through tough times. What’s even more turning that love on yourself is the most powerful force to get you out of a slump 💜

I'm depressed, but I do not ever post anything about my feelings on social media. I just figure that since I really don't care to know how everyone else is feeling *all the time*, why would I expect anyone else to care how I feel?

"In case no one told you today:
You’re beautiful
You’re loved
You’re needed
You’re alive for a reason
You’re stronger than you think
You’re gonna get through this
I’m glad you’re alive
Don’t give up!" ❤❤❤

When i feel upset and sad, i just help people around me. When someone thank me i usually forget my sadness. 😊

I really really hate the mentality of people online these days. They see some poor 13 year old online saying they have depression, and instead of comforting them it's immediately shaming them, diagnosing them is just as bad as them diagnosing themselves, you're not a doctor and have no idea what they're dealing with. Hating on someone who actually has depression isn't worth the risk, that kills people. Depression doesn't have an age range and kids are dealing with a lot of hormones and stress these days. Adults online shouldn't be bullying minors.

Depression is something absolutely no one should be afraid to let others know about. It’s serious and can take a huge toll on your life without you realizing.

Yep, totally relate to the last one. I have clinical depression, going through therapy and taking meds. My mom is kind of ashamed of it, and tells me I should keep it secret, but I can't. I love being super honest about my mental health. In my country people demonise antidepressants, and I like breaking a stigma. Makes me feel better

It's sad to witness more and more people seem to get depressed...
The happier I get each day the more I realize how down everybody seems, it's kinda strange, when I was depressed everyone else looked like they had their shit together, but thats just my perception I guess.

I desperately needed this I was so confused if it was me just being an attention seeker.

I think the main reason why people think people with depression are attention seeking is because of the great amount of people who fake it or make it seem like a joke. Just like tics and stuff, if someone is faking it and they get caught, people will be suspicious of every other person who actually has a disorder/mental illness. If ur struggling, please don't be afraid to get help, there's so many people out there that care about your health❤💕

Sometimes not even encouraging words help depressed people, unfortunately. :/

I just thought to myself, "I want to go home" while I am in my house. With this thought came a late revelation. Home is not a house. Home is a feeling of being safe, happy, and comforted. It's a feeling I haven't had for months, even years, and I have really begun to miss it. With depression, I have really lost my "home" such a long time ago.

Even your voice is healing my depression... seriously, I was watching this video with relaxation, but have been stressed before. It's helpful to know that people understand my feelings, when I feel overreacting myself. Good to be accepted ❤️

I often wonder if I'm actually just faking this, but then I remember I'm diagnosed and that it ruined many years of my life.
