Mann Provent 200 Pressure Regulator Valve in Action !

We are often asked "What is the Valve on the Outlet of the Provent for ??
Check this out to see what is actually happening to the Crankcase Pressure Regulation valve in the Provent 200 Catch can while your driving !
Doing its job preventing pressure from the crankcase entering the Intake Manifold !
"During circumstances where high intake manifold vacuum is present (idle, light-throttle cruising & deceleration), a PCV valve (essentially a one-way check valve) in the system allows crankcase pressure to be relieved into the intake manifold (the vacuum in the intake manifold helps to draw the pressure from the crankcase). Under running conditions where the intake manifold vacuum is lower in absolute pressure to the crankcase pressure, crankcase pressure is barely measurable. This applies to an engine in good mechanical order.
Engines with excessive cylinder wear or poor ring seal may create high crankcase pressures even when the intake manifold vacuum levels are high".

This video shows that the valve almost closes when you speed up the engine. What happens with the crankcase internal pressure when the valve closes? I think it goes up and that could damage the engine seals.

I have a Provent 200 installed on my new (2nd Gen MUX) and I notice that the valve can only vacuum closed when the engine is revving (in neutral or Park) over 4000rmp which is the almost red lining on the 4JJ3. I assume when I drive normally when RPM under 3k, this value should stay open all the time?

Does this valve close on high RPM to prevent the turbo from sucking in oil?

PVC system in gasoline engines need check valves. CCV on diesels do not. If you put a catch can with a check valve on a closed crankcase ventilation you will cause oil leaks at every orifice.

I have a Provent 200 on a Jeep GC diesel and seem to have an intermittent fumey oil smell coming into the cabin even when on recycled air. Didn't happen before the catch can. Any thoughts on this

Question for you guys. First of all, I got a Provent 200 I got from you. In a OEM configuration there is a hose connecting the PCV system with the intake with no pressure valve. This is a connection with NO restrictions. The Provent 200 is more restrictive than this OEM hose because it has a filter and a pressure valve that closes when the suction of the turbo is high (it's in your video). My question is: Doesn't this system increase the crankcase internal pressure compared to the OEM configuration? If the answer is yes then there is a problem.

Is that the noise I can hear at light throttle? Can it be stopped with a heavier spring
