Revolution Tutorial - Flat Relaunch (quad line stunt kite)

preview_player
Показать описание
Another in the ongoing series of Kitelife Magazine tutorials for using Revolution quad line kites, this one detailing two basic methods for relaunching a Rev from the flat belly down position, leading edge away or toward you.

Being a two-dimensional kite when not under power, the Revolution can be a little tricky to relaunch when it's flat on the ground but with these simple techniques, it's generally no more difficult than flipping over any other kind of sport kite.

You can look forward to a growing collection of similar tutorials covering equipment, flight techniques and other "pro secrets" gathered from over 20 years in the kiting community... A number of them will be available here on YouTube, while the majority of these tutorials will be located in the Kitelife Subscribers section, be sure to subscribe today if you like what we're doing here!

I can't believe I've not watched this before during the 10 years I have been flying. I would try my own flat relaunch, but it never worked so I gave up and just walked to the kite, set it up, walked backed, launched. On low wind days, that happened enough I would just go home. I recently bought some 30 foot lines to address these low wind days, and I watched this tutorial before I went out today. OMG! It works, especially when the kite bottom is already towards you. It's a little more challenging if the top is towards you getting the kite to rotate first, but what a wonderful tutorial! Since I fly alone, I'd never seen anyone do this either.

Tail me towards has never really been a problem. But every time that I end up face down with the leading edge towards me, I've just staked my handles and done the ole walk of shame. After watching this tutorial, I went out and got it on my 2nd try. Thank you much. You've saved me kite flying time and personal energy.

I'm glad I had watched this before my SLE got here. Worked the first try! Now to keep the kite OFF the ground or actually flat on the ground while learning!

Thanks Adam, I had to figure all this stuff out on my own over 22+ years of flying Revs, glad to help shorten the learning curve for folks out there who don't have a chance to meet with other fliers for skill exchange. - JB

Good editing choice of placement/size box kite is in. Makes clear continuity between body and kite.

John talks abt wiggling the kite and the smooth backwards walk. Compare to longer or sharper tugs which will either dig straight down or quickly lift a corner only to meet resistance and quickly slam back down.

Pop up/down effect means movement to sharp and fast. Also means the same movements slower smoother could work.

Balance is between to slow to get lift and to fast to work with.

Thanks for the tip. Although I've tried these methods at the beach and they seem a bit more challenging to do than on the grass.

This will save me miles of walking.... Thanks...

Indeed, the sand can be an issue as the kite digs in, etc... Plus it's usually uneven, which makes it tougher too.
