I completely get April’s decision if she told him before the divorce he would of stayed with her out obligation he says it here that it would factored into his decision. Which it shouldn’t of. Kids are resilient and can deal with parent being separated. What you shouldn’t do is force yourself to stay with someone for the sake of a child. It’s not fair on you, your partner and on the child.
