Incredible how a man stands in front of a packed Madison Square Garden...arms crossed in front of a mic...sings absolutely gibberish and has the whole crowd by his side...and you sit here watch this...getting goosebumps allover.

If you only knew what this song was about. He is holding back tears and anguish. Arms crossed defensively.

I don't think Eddie Vedder knows the lyrics to this song any better than I do, but this has always been my favorite Pearl Jam song, and I've been listening to them for 30 years

Mike, one of the most underrated guitarists ever! That outro was one of the most emotional guitar solos recorded live. Just simple licks but the notes said a lot.

I love that they played a 2 and a half hour show and they are all perfectly happy and comfortable with Mike just taking thd last 3 minutes to himself improvising a beautiful outro and getting applauded by the other musicians. Incredible

One of the rare occasions a ‘just go with it’ version live absolutely blows the released version away. Including Eddies mumbling but changed lyrics which add so much more to the meaning of the song. The solo ending by Mike McCready sends shivers down my spine every time I hear it. Just one of the great live performances.

The crowd knew their assignment here. They don't even know what they're singing and it sounds amazing. He even stops singing just to hear and feel the crowd's energy. This is how good it gets folks.

Mike McCready is one of the most underrated guitar players of all time.

He looks like a 55 yr old dad who just drank a bottle of merlot and stumbled in a karaoke bar.
And still its magical as ever.

Mike McCready is criminally underated as a musician...his playing expresses emotions for me that I can never verbalize.

Seeing everyone: the band and the audience just sitting back and watching Mike close the song out... Absolutely beautiful!!

I love how he keeps the grunge aesthetic alive by wearing his everyday clothes on stage

When they struck up the first chord and the crowd cheered...man, it doesn't get much better than that. Pearl Jam for life!

Always amazing. This song is so good because its most often seen as a song expressing grief and pain. The fact that the lyrics change and are somewhat unpredictable, and always difficult to understand is pretty descriptive of grief. Its like listening to someone in a whirlwind of pain. Its honestly a masterpiece.
