At 11:04 I slightly disagree here (at least this is the case with those i play with) I usually find out that my opponents tend to take cards with lower cards required for a set; more chances for winning (eg two cards for a complete set) rather than taking a higher value card (the red one in this example).

6:16 - I disagree. You should hang on to the double rent card over house and hotel. There aren't many in the deck and you don't get the right needed colour rent card often either to justify having a consistent house rent value. Main reason is you can charge more with it (eg., Complete Blue Set you can charge 16m versus 15m with both house and hotel). If lucky enough to get a house and/or hotel you can wipe players out completely charging upwards 25m rent. Only risk is someone using a deal breaker on a blue set with house and hotel, but when making such a play you should have a Just Say No card as insurance anyway

We play we different rules.
1. If you attach a house or hotel to a set, you cannot break up the set unless you move the house or hotel onto another set.
2. Moving a property from one spot (street) to another will use up a turn, flipping a property or properties doesn't take up a turn.
3. In order to win you must have 3 sets and 20million cash in the bank. This does make longer games but also some really fun moments.
4. If you have more than 7 cards in your hand and you have remaining turns, you must use excess cards if it is possible to do so.

These rules really take away from your strategy and any silly stalemates that would result. It's also a longer process to win, you need the right balance between property and money. The larger notes like 10million become powerful late in the game and cards like deal breakers can be saved because its likely to be used in a longer running game.

I don’t play any property cards at the beginning, however I put money in the bank when I have low value cards because it can help establish a strong line up in later rounds. Sometimes using your cards is an advantage because if you run out, you draw 5 cards on your next turn

I got a hand with all birthdays and debt collectors once and almost won if I knew you could move a wild card off a full set. Awesome video!

I already used a lot of the strategies so frequently that I and the people I was playing with decided to make rules to patch many of them out (e.g. you’re not allowed to break up full sets unless you have no other choice when paying rent or move buildings between them). The forded deal/deal breaker combination is still legal, and it’s also legal to not play any cards on your first turn, though the former happens so rarely that there hasn’t been a rule made about it. And usually, when I play, debt collectors are more valuable than birthdays, as I usually play against only one person, so the downsides of playing the multicolored rent card are also irrelevant. The main response to the rules that patched out specific strategies was to not make full sets to begin with until you can complete three in one turn. I even attempted to patch that strategy out, but when I was testing it, my dad and I agreed to drop the rule after a few games, as not making full sets was almost his only strategy.

10:46, sorry (I am learning the game), but what do you mean by "playing" the money card?

it seems like breaking up the monopolies mid turn and still leaving the house/hotel in play seems suspect-- because they can only be played on a set, so wouldn't breaking the set invalidate those cards being in play? Wouldn't it make more sense if they were forfeited to your bank upon breakup of the set?

My friend told me that we can't take the 10colour property wild card through deal breaker.
For eg: if im using deal breaker and taking set of red which is made of 2 property card and one 10 colour wild card then i have to leave the property wild card and take rest 2 red property cards, is this true?

Great video! Can you please make a video about a full game with 3 other players using this hacking system? I got the ideas but it would be clearer if it was implemented to a real gameplay.
Thank you <3

Edit: I played the official version on Xbox and one you place a hotel on a color set, you cannot change any wild cards that you put on it.

It's already been discussed, however, there isn't anything in the rules that says a property and it's house and hotel CAN'T be broken up, so I think it would just be left floating, just like a property wild card would if you had to pay rent. What's less clear is if you owed someone rent and only had the house and hotel cards. Would they stay with a different property, or would they be paid to the creditor as compensation?

This is how I understand rules.

It says in the rule book that your turn is over when you make your third move/action.

You can separate your properties anytime during your turn, up until you play your final third move.

Separating your properties includes moving and/or flipping a wild card.

Once the property set is broken, the houses and/or hotels “float” in your property area.

Houses/hotels must be attached to the next available full set of properties.

Single color properties can not be separated. Only wilds can be moved.

Doesn’t switching wild card color count as a card play though

At 12:30 you make a strange play with houses and hotels. You say "they automatically attach" to the other full street. Where have you got this rule from? That's not the way myself or my family play.

If they act in this way, you could intentionally break up your own full streets by moving wild cards and then move your house/hotels around your own properties as you wished.

The tiny rule book that comes with this game is maddeningly small and brief. Especially considering how much nuance there is. Its a great little game. Is this a house rule you have? It seems a little too powerful.

The way I would play it. The house and hotel stay on the street despite the street not being complete anymore. This makes much more sense to me.

Idk personally, I would never discard deal breaker even as a first hand

I’m not sure if houses automatically attach if you break the set

I have wiped out a player who was winning big time over me using a rent, double rent and double rent card for my turn. especially if the only set i have is Boardwalk set with house and hotel

I disagree with splitting your streets up at the end of each turn to avoid deal breaker. There are only two deal breakers in the game and around 8 or more sly/forced deals. You are statistically more likely to lose a set by splitting than leaving it alone, especially if you are on 2/3 sets, the opponents will sly/forced deal one of your properties regardless of if they want it or not to stop you winning.

Also if you split a valuable set an opponent can steal mayfair and use a wild property card to complete their set.

A hack not mentioned is when playing rent you can flip all of your wild properties to that colour to get even more. For example you have a set of 3 green cards and two other wilds with either green or the any wild card. You flips the two cards to green, play rent and yoj get a set of 3 and a set of 2 added together then you flips the wilds back into their respective sets/colours before ending your turn.

You can also say just say no to a just say no as it cancels any action card played against you and just say no is an action card. Brutal when you deal breaker or double rent your Mayfair and an opponent gives that smug look as they play just say no and you cancel them 😆

I disagree that in a set with house and hotel that you can pop that wild property out and leave the house and hotel just out there. They either need to go into the bank money and then can't go back on a property set.

we are always playing without the deal breaker card, it's way too overpowered and random
