NASA warns you to keep your eyes peeled in the sky this week as 3 huge asteroids are set to pass Earth at a pretty close distance. The 3 huge asteroids making their way through space are said not to pose any real threat. Although it has been stated by NASA and other experts that 2 of the 3 huge asteroids are possibly hazardous. The 3 huge asteroids have been compared in size by experts to be big as "skyscrapers". It is also stated by NASA that the closest asteroid to Earth will be roughly 2.2 million miles away as it safely passes us by. Although NASA tells us not to worry about the incoming asteroids as they will pass us, it is still a little uncomfortable to know that such threats remain in space. Thankfully with all the technology today that NASA and other space agencies have we will have a good understanding of possible threats and be able to identify them coming. Also with the successful launch of DART last year, we may be 1 step closer to stopping these potential threats altogether.

The space agency NASA forecasts that over this next week, three huge asteroids, including two "possibly hazardous ones," will move through the same region of space that the Earth does when orbiting the sun.

Now, let's dissect what that means in more detail.

This week, three gigantic asteroids will zoom by the Earth as they are considered to be rogue asteroids. There are millions of these asteroids in our solar system.

However, there is no need for alarm because NASA has determined that even the object that comes the closest to Earth will still pass harmlessly beyond our planet at a distance of 2.2 million miles (3.5 million kilometres).

This is approximately 10 times the typical distance that separates our planet and the moon.

An asteroid with the designation 2012 DK31 is scheduled to come close to Earth on February 27 at a distance of approximately 3 million miles (4.8 million kilometres).

It is estimated that the asteroid has a diameter of 450 feet (137 metres), which is approximately the same as a skyscraper that has 40 stories.

The asteroid travels through Earth's orbit once every few years.

The asteroid has been categorised by NASA as a PHA, which indicates that it has the potential to do catastrophic damage to Earth in the event that its course was to shift and a collision occurred.

A potentially hazardous object is defined as any asteroid with a width of more than 1,400 metres (4,500 feet) that orbits within 4.6 million miles (7.5 million kilometres) of the planet Earth.

A gigantic asteroid impacting the Earth would be a fitting end for humanity

But what happens when they're on a collision course with Earth and Bruce Willis isn't there to save us?
