25 recipes in 25mins: Birria Tacos 🌮

This recipe is absolutely UNAUTHENTIC, but the taste comes reallyyyy close to the original Mexican delight... definitely give it a try it! 🤤
RECIPE (3 servings, 25min preparation time):
-1 large onion
-3 cloves of garlic
Sauté in oil until the onions softened
-1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon chili paste (e.g. Hariss) depending on how spicy you like it
-3 tbsp tomato paste
-2 tbsp dark soy sauce
-1 teaspoon each of cumin, paprika powder, ground coriander and oregano
-1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
-2 bay leaves
-80g large soy chunks
-900ml vegetable broth
Put everything in the pot.
Stir well and simmer for about 5 minutes until the soy chunks are soft.
Take them out and optionally pull them apart a bit.
Season the broth to taste and let it simmer.
Else:
-9 small tortillas
-fresh coriander
-Lime
Dip the tortillas in the broth and place them in a pan with hot oil.
Add the “meat” and coriander on top and fold.
Serve with the broth and lime. 😋

Das Rezept hier ist absolut UNAUTHENTISCH, kommt geschmacklich doch echt nah an die echten Mexikanischen Tacos ran… probiert‘s unbedingt aus! 🤤
REZEPT (3 Portionen, 25min Zubereitungszeit):
-1 große Zwiebel
-3 Zehen Knoblauch
In Öl anschwitzen bis die Zwiebeln weich sind.
-1 Tl bis 1 El Chilipaste (z.B. Hariss) je nachdem wie scharf ihr es mögt
-3 El Tomatenmark
-2 El dunkle Sojasauce
-je 1 Tl Kumin, Paprikapulver, gemahlener Koriander und Oregano
-1/4 Tl Zimt
-2 Lorbeerblätter
-80g große Sojaschnetzel
-900ml Gemüsebrühe
Alles in den Topf geben.
Gut verrühren und ca. 5min köcheln lassen bis die Sojaschnetzel weich sind.
Diese rausschöpfen und optional in etwas auseinander ziehen.
Die Brühe abschmecken und köcheln lassen.
Sonstiges:
-9 kleine Tortillas
-frischer Koriander
-Limette
Die Tortillas in die Brühe tunken und in eine Pfanne mit heißem Öl legen.
Das „Fleisch“ und Koriander darauf verteilen und zu klappen.
Mit der Brühe und Limette servieren. 😋

Next time I suggest using corn tortillas if you find them, they add a great flavor! Plus some raw onion and cilantro

This works even better with seitan. I've been making them for years using seitan as the "meat".

Tomato paste and those spices won’t give a birria flavor. Fresh tomatoes, dried chilis and cloves are needed, but I understand you probably don’t have access to the chilis. I love your content btw.
