Importing Characters from Mixamo to Unreal Engine 4 (UE4 Tutorial)

preview_player
Показать описание
Throughout this video we go over how we can choose, animate and setup a custom character from Mixamo and import it into Unreal Engine 4.

We also go over setting up the animation blueprint for the Mixamo character allowing the engine to make the character walk, run and play inside of our game.

If you have downloaded a character form Mixamo which includes an animation pack, you'll notice that there was no "In place" option. This means that your animations will download with root motion applied - the characters won't just move on the spot (in place), they'll actually move along the axies too. If this is undesirable, you can change this setting in UE4 on a per animation basis:
1. Import the animation into Unreal
2. Open the animation for editing
3. In the "Asset Details" tab (on the left), under the "Root Motion" heading:
a) check the "EnableRootMotion" checkbox
b) check the "Force Root Lock" checkbox
4. Save the animation

Hope that helps :)

If the character is translucent, you don't actually have to create a new material, just open your material and check if "Material domain" is set to Surface, and "Blend mode" to Opaque
It works for me

For anyone following this tutorial in more recent versions of UE4 the Event States node layout no longer works here.
Here is a working method.

That is why I love your tutorials. You don't only explain how to import a character from a website, but you also teach how to use it for beginners. The video is well structured, so people who only want to know how to import can quickly quit the video with their answers, but beginners like me also learn how to use those files. Il love it. Thank you! Keep up the good work!

Great Tutorial! One comment that when you import model from Maximo and if it seems transparent, then just change the blend mode in the material to "opaque" rather than making another material for it.

FYI its "-90 to 90" to "-180 to 180" and its "vector length, " not "vector length squared." At least, thats what worked for me using the mixamo locomotion pack for strafing. I also had to change the rotation type in the character motion controller, to enable strafing and camera-following rotation

Virtus Learning Hub / Creative Tutorials - 25:38 - In UE 4.23 it is impossible to straight connect from "Cast to third person character" to "Calculate directions" node. On "Calculate directions" node there is missing that small triangle button. What is the solution for this one in UE 4.23?
