It's true the Americans were in agreement to leave Afghanistan by Sept 11th 2021 but it was expedited once it became evident that the Taliban were successfully taking over provinces. By the 15th August once the Taliban surrounded kabul the embassy was evacuated and by the end of August all personnel were evacuated, it wasn't a "departure". The Taliban had already took control of the city before america exited, even the afghan president Ashraf Ghani fled the city (apparently with over 150 million dollars) it was a mess but not the militaries fault, as always the politicians. They were in peace talks with the Taliban and may of well just handed over and left with some sort of dignity, instead during the evacuation 13 US soldiers lost their lives and over 180 afghan civilians, all avoidable..
